  1. That's inncorrect, you do NOT need to supply your medical records at all. Whoever told you that is mistaken.

The M55 that @db58was selling (for his mate) is a really well made gun. It's an older moder of Tikka (Tikkakoski) which (IMO) will be better made than the current batch of mas produced Tikka rifles. As long as it's not been shot out - which you can easily get checked - and the seller offers it you at a reasonable price (around £200 to £300). Braces of Bristol have a .243 for sale @ £150 - the one @db58 is selling looked to be in better condition TBH. If it is shot out (which to be honest it probably is as it was made in 1970 ish) you can get it rebarrelled which opens up a range of chamberings (.22-250, 243, 6.5CM or .308 for example). I would expect that you'd end up with a really good rifle for less than you £1K budget. https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/threads/tikka-value-m55.177331/
  4. I live in Scotland too, if you are a drug addict or an alcoholic (active or 'recoivering') you get free gym membership. Otherwise as a law abiding/healthy/tap paying adult it's around £39 a month If you get community service for (basically) being disrespectful of other persons and property, you get free hours in the gym which count down your 'punishment' at 1.5 times (66 hours in the gym = 100 hours community service). There are lots of other 'perks' too, in fact there are career scroungers that play the system very successfully, flats, clothing allowances, holidays paid for, a weekly income .... You don't really need to be clever or hard working just understand and play the system and your quids in.
  5. I have one of those too. Can't hit many clays with it but good lightwieght gun for walking up in the autumn and snapping at game/pigeon.
  6. I saw a blind sheepdog sh@gging a cabbage once .... He thought it was a collie .. 🦮
  7. It's got porridge in it, the english (real) version is soooo much better.

The givaway is the mauser (short) action. This rifle was made by Tikkakoshi prior to Sako buying them out and changing the name to Tikka. Sako bought Tikkakoshi in 1983 so this will be prior to that, probably 1978 (ish) so it's circa 40 to 45 years old (not 5 as you said @db58). The later versions (after 1982) featured a large plastic ball end on the bolt. It's a well made rifle, the problem with a .22-250 is that they are a hot round so often the throat is burnt out - this one may not be but i'd reccommend it's borescoped to check. They also have a 1:12 (early versions were 1:14) twist rate so would struggle with non lead bullets over 45gr, possibly 40gr. 50 and 55gr lead projectiles would be fine. Like all .22-250's, in good condition, this would be a really good, flat shooting foxing rifle.

Bit confused by your post (above) ? "Thats the first one" - first what ? Yes, I am saying that I don't think it's a Tikka T3 as the bolt, bolt shroud and safety look wrong. I maybe making a mistake and No I don't want to 'bet on it' but I would like you to tell me (teach me really) the mistake I am making ...

No, but I would like you to tell me (teach me really) the mistake I am making ... Was the rifle made by Sako ?

What makes you think it is a T3 ? I think the bolt is wrong for a T3 as is the safety. It looks like it's a good rifle, probably better than the modern T3's.

  21. Police Scotland FLD was pushing for an increase in the fee when Chief Inspector Fraser (Freedom) Lamb was in charge. He was all for not having the Police shoulder the cost which his department identified as being in the £500 range. As Scotland decends into madness and cosies up closer to the (anti shooting) Green Party there is a distibct posibility that this may gain traction. There is no real information available, why did Finlay MacDonald stab his wife and then murder his sisters husband (after shooting her in the face) ? It's not the gun its the person behind the trigger. The FLD wastes a huge amount of money on maintaining an over complex licensing system (think moderators for example). Knives (sharp impliments) are the most commonly used weapon in murder, the second is by 'kicking or hitting'. Strangulation is in there and then with a 2% to 8% fluctuation shooting .... and that's down by 43% since the 1960's Hopefully the 'parlimentary committee' members will be made aware of these facts and will divert funds and efforts into matters that help the general populace rather than punish a minority. https://www.gov.scot/publications/homicide-scotland-2021-22/pages/2/ https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/homicideinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2021
  22. A good one, a bad one an average one .... that's what they cost, my father is in one in the Midlands. It's a real money spinner for sure where the private 'resident' is heavily subsidising the LA's residents basically if your parent has any asset (cash, savings or a home) the 'home/LA' ring fence that for thier fees. In my fathers case, it is the best place for him, he is well cared for, well fed and has a level health care and interaction with the staff and other residents that would not be availavble to him if he was 'at home'. Am I happy it's costing 6K a month ? Yes and No "No" cos it's a **** load of money but "Yes" as it's the best place for him. We moved my father to Warwickshire from Wales, it was cheaper in Wales but to far from his family. We also had to move him about until we found a 'good' home. I could write a book on this but the main reasons were that 'some' care home operators, in my experience, were more focussed on the money than the care. The worst of the bunch was Runwood Homes. They are a largish organisation based in Essex with 20 or more establishments dotted ouround the country. "Too big to care" should be their motto. One of their 'conditions of acceptance' was that I had to prove my fathers assets covered 5 years of expenses (ie £337600,00) by submitting recent bank statements and a notarised house valuatuion, without that Runwood Homes would not accept my father as a resident..... Anyway it's about my fathers comfort and well being, it's not about the money/inheritance. When my fathers assets dwindle the care home will get paid by the LA. He's 97 and failing so as I said " it's the best place for him."
