  1. Thanks guys, very much appreciated! I couldn't find any of the sample packs i had,it dawned on me that i gave away whatever was left with an Air Arms Pro Sport i sold last year. RWS Superdomes i still have,i use them in my Diana 48 Firebird & i always used them in a previously owned HW80,if i recall the R10 didn't like them,i'm rebuilding an HW80 atm for a friend & i've a feeling that it 'might' end up being mine,i don't need it but after i've rebuilt it i know i will want it.... 😐 Going by @Ultrastu & @enfieldspares recommendations i will get sample packs of Falcon Accuracy plus 13.4gr,Crossman Ultra Magnums 14.3gr & Bisley Long Range Gold 14gr,they are all 5.50mm heads (same as my Defiants),it'll be interesting to see how the Falcons & Crossmans will perform given the different weights, the Bisleys @ 14gr are the same weight as the Defiants. As for pellet samples,Pelletperfect have all 3 aforementioned availabe BUT did i see some really bad press about that company either on this forum or somewhere else recently or am i mistaken? Thanks again.
  2. Noted, thank you,tbh i've never even heard of them!,tomorrow i shall dig deeper into my 'room of doom' (my hoarder stylee, very large, all things shooting, walk in cupboard) & try & find some of the pellet sample packs i have somewhere from previous testing.
  3. Thanks for the replies fellas, An update on this & it's not good, thought i'd get myself a tin of Sniper Lights to trial but upon trying to source them on the net it soon became apparent that these were also in short supply, onto the H&N website & there was no sign of them in any caliber,i do recall seeing them on the H&N website not too many moons ago so it was now obvious there was something amiss,i subsequently emailed H&N Sport Germany to enquire & soon got the reply i was by then expecting..... 'Dear Mr. ########, Thank you for your interest in our products. Unfortunately a short time ago our general manager decided that we will not produce the Sniper pellets any more. For this reason you won´t find these pellets on our website' Just my luck! 😧,to add fuel to the fire i cannot find any of the targets i had from testing various pellets with the R10 back in 2016,they would have been damned handy now!,my memory isn't the best either so it's going to be testing time again when possible, however, luckily,i managed to scran another nearly full box of Defiants from a mate so i'm ok for a wee while yet (& he's ok for venison for a wee while yet!) Any recommendations on which brands of pellets might be best suited to my R10 Mk2 sub 12 are most welcome,if only to narrow the field down a bit,i'm thinking @Ultrastu might be the man with the answer on this subject although i'm aware there are quite a few other air weapon gurus on this forum, Thanks again folks.
  4. I've just checked, washed & lubed my last batch of Defiants,i just use 'Power' Pellet Lube,i've not came across many damaged Defiants in all the boxes i've gone through,to me they're a good & accurate pellet, the H&N Sniper Lights are seemingly made to the same spec so i guess i'm just going to have to get a tin & try them out,i hope i don't end up having to go through more testing.
  5. 20/5/20: 18 rooks,11 crows,8 jackdaws,37. Yesterday: 11 jackdaws,4 rooks,14 crows,29. Total 440.
  6. Impressive job done there,i think it's safe to say that by having the ability to craft up items like that you've somewhat surpassed the level of an amateur!
  7. .22,5.50mm (medium) head diameter,14gn,now obsolete, does anyone know where i could possibly find some old stock of these?,in 2018 i managed to buy a few remaining boxes from an Ebay seller but i'm getting low on them now & cannot source any more,i was informed that they were re-branded as H&N Sniper Light, these are obtainable but scarce & i haven't tried them yet,i'd rather try & find original Defiants before going down that route,a few years back i bought an Mk2 R10 (sub 12) & tested many pellets, the Defiants came out tops & i've used nothing else since,my R10 is a proverbial 'tack driver' with them, does anyone else on here use the H&N Sniper Light pellets in a PCP?,if so,how do you rate them, are they good quality out of the tin?.
  8. My go-to gun has an over-bored barrel so i shy away from fibre wads, none of my permission owners are fussed about plastic wads or not but i do try, when possible,to pick up as many wads as i can at the end of a session.
  9. I received the Stone Dead 6's last night,as previously stated i've never used the 6's before,it'll be interesting to see how they perform. As a matter of interest has anyone else used these 32G 6's on pigeons & corvids?,how do you rate them?
  10. 3 Jackdaws last night with the R10 in farm buildings, along with 13 ferals, they've been hammering the cattle & poultry feedstuffs. Total 330.
  11. Good thinking, cheers!,i'll get onto that next week, too busy molesting the gf's bike (again!) just now,i'm also rebuilding an HW80 for a mate, plenty to keep me busy....

    Bird table ???.

I made a bird table & a hanging feeding station for the window sill of my gf's 1st floor flat, the flats are 15yds away from a wood, there's sparrows, chaffinches & a variety of tits on it constantly,a woodpecker also visits frequently but is very flighty,if it spots any movement through the window it's off, these are all great entertainment but the star of the show is 'Tyson' the red squirrel,we've named him Tyson because a second smaller squirrel appeared on the scene & Tyson was having none of it,a fight ensued & we saw Tyson deal the smaller squirrel a left jab followed by a swift right hook,it was bloody hilarious! 🤣,the smaller squirrel only now appears when it knows Tyson isn't around,i had to devise a bird-proof squirrel feeder for the table to prevent the birds from emptying the squirrels nut jar,Tyson destroyed the first self closing plastic lid i made so i have since devised another,i've also had to put bird spikes on top of the wood that the bird feeders hang from because the goddamned crows homed in on it & were managing to unhook the feeders so they'd fall to the ground, unreal! Meet Tyson,he there at least 3 times per day & often for a half hour or so... 🙂 Greater Spotted or Lesser Spotted?,i reckon Greater Spotted but happy to be corrected, poor quality pic, zoomed in from a phone The squirrels have to run across the grass & up the flat wall to get to the table,my next mission is to make a rope bridge for them.
  13. Not shooting related but i'm in a quandry at the moment,i'm in Scotland, myself & my gf want to travel 30 miles to visit a late friends grave & clean up a memorial sculpture we had made which watches over him,it's a metal sculpture,i need to take step ladders & tools so we can't ride our bikes there,we'd need to travel in my car, myself & the gf do not live together, would i be correct in assuming that we'd be breaking the law by travelling together in the same car?,i'm aware that this was a definite no-no recently under lockdown rules but the rules have changed from today,i cannot find any clarity regarding this & i know that the Scottish rules may be different from those in England,Wales & Ireland, can anyone offer advice please?,maybe i should just call the police & ask them?
  14. I've seen plenty pics of folk with rotary batteries wrapped in camo tape or clumps of grass or straw etc thrown over them,i wanted something more than that, for me personally the Osprey pouch was a good choice,it disguises the battery,it offers the battery & connections protection from the elements & the fastening strap on the pouch makes a good carrying handle... This is the battery i'm currently using,a bit heavy but i can't justify spending silly money on a lighter lithium battery, The battery dimensions are 150mm long,95mm wide & 95mm deep,it's a really snug fit in the pouch, you won't fit anything larger in it For anyone looking for an Osprey pouch this is what you're looking for,i only paid £4.49 on the bay for mine at the time but the seller isn't currently processing orders for reasons unknown.. Yes there are good strong attachments on the rear of the pouch but my battery is usually in my kit trolley or my rucksack.
  15. I love the stuff!,as well as spread thickly on toast it also makes a tasty addition to stews, casseroles & gravy, the gf also loves it & can eat it out of the jar with a spoon!,that's just a bit too extreme for me though, she's also mad for marmite peanut butter but i'm not struck on that at all, peanuts is peanuts, marmite is marmite.
  16. When i first ventured into the world of rotary magnets i was amazed at the amount of options available, having no experience with them it was difficult to choose,i eventually opted for an A1 Decoys Telescopic model with optional remote speed control,i find it to be a good sturdy solid bit of kit & to date i can say it has been very reliable,a 12Ah battery lasts me for 7-8 hours easily,my only gripe would be what @oowee has already mentioned, the round decoy bars with the flat thumb screw grip,a bit fiddly!,i haven't had any thumb screws give up on me yet but it's something i'm aware off when tightening them,i may get bespoke arms made in the future if/when they start causing grief,i also camo taped the arms to reduce glare,i still wasn't happy with that so ended up spraying matt kaki camo paint on top of the camo tape, sorted!,i also modified & spiral wrapped the wiring to make it less fuss when setting up... Adhesive velcro on the remote sensor secures it to the velcro on the army osprey pouch which holds the battery.... The connections all tuck into the osprey pouch to conceal them & keep them dry...
  17. I personally find that corvids & pigeons sit fine in the cradles with the head mounting bars at 80mm long but i'd suggest you experiment to find what you're happy with, cutting them down a bit at a time, when i mount the birds heads onto the bars i grip the head between my thumb & forefinger & with the bars being pointed it doesn't take a great deal of force to secure them, there's little chance of you spiking yourself, the storage/transportation idea was just a quick solution i came up with, there's probably better ones out there,it's just a 295mm length of 25mm diameter pvc pipe with a slot cut out to prevent the bottom 2 cradles from spinning around then i just secure all the cradles together with a couple of small bungee cords, works fine,i can just bung them in the kit trolley & not worry about them getting tangled up with everything else. I can't remember where the small bungee cords came from, had them lying in the shed for years knowing they'd come in handy for something.
  18. 🤣 no,one of the farmers i control vermin for.
  19. I've never once in my life strayed onto the wrong side of the law & if i was to do it i most certainly wouldn't be doing it with any form of firearm!
  20. Good video, the Nitehawk cradles, well made as you said but do you not find the 'props' for the birds heads to be too long/high?,the ones on mine were 135mm long & at that length the birds were literally hanging from them so i cut them down to 80mm & put a sharp point on them, personally i find that to be much better.
  21. Yes,the birds were coming off & returning to the pond, all Mallard.
  22. When you're in Scotland & around 800 yards away from any water?
  23. I haven't spoken to him in a while,he was up here last year delivering cartridges & all was well at that time,i hope he's back up to this area soon, stocks are getting low & i don't want to resort to having buy other brands. Yep,ducks, inland,on a private flight pond.
  24. Proper Cartridges,Stone Dead 32G 5's,i can't fault them, they pattern well through every choke i have (Optima Plus & Teagues),used mainly on pigeons & corvids but also shot pheasants, ducks & a few woodcock with them,i've never tried the 32G 6's but i'm being gifted a slab of them soon & i'm looking forward to seeing how they perform.
  25. Jeezus H christ on a bike!,this just had me in fits! 🤣🤣🤣,funniest thing i've seen in a long time,thanks fella,brilliant! 🤣
