  1. Yes of course if that was the only place to get cartridges from, however most of us can collect near home from a dealer paying less.
  2. Their minimum delivery charge is £15, not worth it,adds almost 20% to a slab, same £15 up to 1,000 delivered.
  3. The income limit for a single person is currently £201.05 to claim pension credit, deliberately set at that level just under the new pension of £203.85, so most new pensioners can’t qualify. In April the new pension will be £221, and they will then set the threshold at about £218. Clever stuff!
  4. The income limit to qualify for pension credit is deliberately set just below the new state pension rate,at about £201 a week I believe so if you receive the £203.85 you can’t claim any extras! It’s the main reason the higher new pension was introduced-to stop claims for all the council tax rebates, housing etc.
  5. I know of someone who hasn’t worked for over 30 years, getting a sickness benefit and getting full council house rent paid and free council tax,now recently turned 66,gets the full £203.85 a week pension and continuing to pay zero rent or council tax,the whole package must be worth £18,000 a year.I have worked 45+ years paying National insurance and all I get is the £203.85 a week. You are talking about your private pension I take it? As the state pension age is currently 66.
  6. I go to Crynant occasionally, but usually shoot Skeet or Sporting not done DTL for many years.Contact Chris for details, and they can hire a gun too if needed under supervision I believe.
  7. Crynant shooting ground has DTL among most other disciplines,Open Wednesday,Saturday and Sunday. £9 per 25 clays. Nice clubhouse and facilities. Chris Hughes runs it.
  8. A very nice air rifle, especially in walnut,BUT the prices have gone crazy now! A few years ago they were under £600 for walnut, now pushing £900 I think which is a lot for any rifle.
  9. Used those in the 1980’s, about £80 a thousand, excellent cartridges!
  10. There are many available, side by sides are generally unpopular now and the cheaper models are a few pounds or free in some cases as so little demand. For clays I would find a 28” or 30” with a pistol or semi pistol grip, preferably a beaver tail forend .Weighing about 7-7.5 lbs.Get the length of pull to suit you and a comb raiser possibly as most are too low.The chokes maybe too much in many cases, ideally about 5 thou, and 15 thou is most suitable.
  11. I still have some S&B paper case from the 70’s, 31.9 grams Mk2’s! Also some buff colour paper Baikals, both were 40p for ten when I bought them.
  12. He seems to be always spending his time talking on his radio chat show instead of earning his huge MP’s salary! Like so many of them getting millions from multiple jobs!
  13. Yes all Hymax and Alphamax were 36 grams 70mm cartridges They should weigh 48 grams on a digital scales.
  14. I had similar on Monday at the local Sizzlers, Jumbo Scampi 15 pieces, chips and peas,£6.17,and a pint of Coors at £2.50. Was 40% off, normally £13.79 altogether.
  15. They are a nice rifle! I had exactly the same bought in 1980 for £96.(Equivalent to over £600 now) Kept it clean like yours but when I wanted to sell in 2017 dealers didn’t want to know, sad to say I finally found a private buyer for £50 and it went because I wasn’t intending to renew my fac. Good luck with your sale, hope you can do better!
  16. Not too far from Shropshire possibly is Griffin Lloyd shooting ground near Knighton.I believe they have the trap discipline layouts as well as Sporting etc.
  17. Sounds like you have been paying £810 a month and it’s going up to £840 which is not high for most areas, and if the first rise in 2 years sounds very reasonable! The owners would probably prefer to have you as a responsible caring tenant than risk another one who would not respect the property and fall behind with payments.
  18. I have the family heirloom of a side lock hammerless non ejector by Clabrough and Johnstone,Birmingham, half pistol grip,30” barrels, and true cylinder/ 3/4 choke. Believed to be from around 1895,and black powder proof,(BV,BP).My grandfather got it from another family member in about 1930,later my Dad had it,I started using it in 1972,despite not thought to be nitro, and shot it until about 2000.Now the top rib has become loose so it’s finally retired.
  19. Also, closer to you, Hart events,at St Dials, Monmouth ((Stuart Hart’s place)
  20. There are several depending on how far away you are considering. Lawrenny clay club in Pembrokeshire, Crynant, Ferndale,Tregaron.Coelbren clay shooting on Sunday mornings.
  21. Definitely a sign of the times! Hard to give guns away now, Over 50 years ago I had to pay more than that to get a second hand single barrel 12 bore,A double, even the cheapest, would have been £40 (over 2 weeks wages)
  22. In summer the standing charge is 60% of my bills,in winter 27%. £303 out of £900 total!
  23. Even more with Eon next, 83p a day! £303 a year. A few years ago I was paying 21p a day! Everyone hates these charges.Same with the Welsh Water, over £151 a year to them before using a drop of water!
  24. There are .22 adaptors on eBay for a .410, £48 each, not seen any for 9 mm probably because it’s a very similar size to..410,and would only be about 1 mm thick.I imagine if someone was clever with a lathe they could make adaptors!
  25. Sounds a fussy police authority. They never even contacted my referee.
