  1. Thanks Guys, I think I may be fixed up now, Local gun shop may have one and if not I can get a taper fit key of Ebay.
  2. Hi all, Anybody have a spare Browning invector DS choke key/wrench for sale?. Mine seems to have gone walkabouts, Cash on collection or meet East mids area.
  3. In this case no, By his own admission he is absolutely guilty, I commented "unless the circumstances are absolutely clear cut." and in this case they are.
  4. Yep ditto, use in my truck also.
  5. If it's any help Genghis, I was in a similar situation a few months ago. (see link to thread below). As you can see, I initially fixed my cabinet into an outside brick built shed, the inner walls of which were breeze block. I fixed my cabinet to the breeze block using threaded bar and a chemical fix kit from Screwfix (see attached), I did this by drilling through the cabinet whilst it was in place so that the end of the drill bit marked the wall for bolt positioning. I then removed the cabinet and drilled into the wall using a 10mm masonry bit which was double the diameter of the threaded bar, ( to allow room around the threaded bar for the chemical fixative ). I then placed the cabinet and cut six 100mm lengths of the threaded bar, used the applicator to pump the chemical mix through the holes in the cabinet into the wall and placed a cut length of threaded bar in each of the holes. Then waited for the chemical mix to cure before fixing the cabinet to the wall with hex nuts. You could do the same thing, but because your cabinet is already glue fixed you would have to drill 10mm holes through your cabinet and then use large washers.
  6. I could not agree more with your comments BTB / Scully, I also wish we could just put (1st degree murderers) and rapists for that matter, behind bars for the rest of their naturals. Truth be told though, the country just does not have the funding or capacity to accomplish this, we all know it costs a fortune to keep offenders incarcerated and even if we could afford it, we simply do not have prison space or sufficient staff to cope. Indeed some of the UK's biggest correctional facilities are already being run at well over capacity. Like it or not, we have to find a different alternative to permanent imprisonment. The argument for the return of the death penalty is again a valid solution, and indeed, a certain deterrent to most "would be" Murderers, and I totally understand why a large percentage of the population would welcome it. For me personally though, it's fraught with danger, mistakes can, and often have, been made before. Imagining a scenario were I happened to be a jury member who, based on evidence available at the time, helped send a person to their death, only after the fact to discover through fresh evidence that they were innocent in some way. I can't speak for everyone but personally, this would end me.
  7. I am not sure that capitol punishment should be re-introduced generally, unless the circumstances are absolutely clear cut. If it was up to me, this guy would serve a term in the likes of Broadmoor and if ever he was to be considered for release, it would be on the condition that he was chemically castrated, thereby removing his particular incentive to re offend.
  8. When I am out fishing I like a fresh ground coffee, I have tried several methods and the "hands down" winner for me is the Aero Press. Simply grind some coffee beans into a Tupperware container and make up a "brew kit" (sugar/sweetener, milk/cream etc.etc.) to take with you. When it's time for a break, use the stove of your choice to heat some water and use the Aero Press.
  9. Hey Buster, Welcome to the forum buddy.
  10. For me it's the Trangia cook set, Can't fault it, Runs on de-natured alcohol, Meths or gel fuel. It's near bulletproof, goes anywhere and cheap to run. Anything wears out or gets misplaced is replaceable, so no need to purchase the whole system again.😁
  11. Back in the 90's the wife and I lived on a residential barge moored at the Meadows marina Leicester. We had a "Little Wenlock" solid fuel burner with a back boiler in the saloon and down in the boatman's cabin we had a solid fuel oven and hob, great for making bread, We found that burning wood full time tended to tar and soot the chimneys, but burning anthracite was much better, this could be stoked and banked up just before bed and with the damper set would burn all night. pics attached
  12. Quite easily. Mine came back from a service at Archy Moss only to be taken right back to them to have engine oil put in, they had forgot.
  13. Yeah LOL, they may well turn out to be a lemon, or at the very least an expensive pair of foam earplugs.
  14. Just purchased a set of these in preference to my ear muffs which tend to get in the way at times, Unfortunately they were an impulse buy and at the right price so I did not read any reviews. Having got them home and tried them for fit they appear excellent and are certainly less cumbersome and better looking than ear muffs. However, try as I might, I just cannot figure out how to tell the difference between hearing mode and shooting mode, when I press the little red button on each earbud it returns to the same position when released, so as far as I can see, there is no way to tell visually which mode they are in. Having now read some of the reviews they are basically a mixed bag ranging from rubbish to excellent, but the common theme appears to be based on the mode issue, Some are suggesting to clap you hands twice whilst switching between modes, shout out whilst switching or simply switch modes whilst somebody else close by is shooting. Now, I have dismissed the two former suggestions as I have no real desire to look like a raving lunatic just before stepping into the cage, and the latter suggestion would be a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has already bolted. So does anybody out there have any experience of these ??, or at least know of a workable solution please.
  15. Very tough call to make, It's all about the dogs welfare really, I would ask a few pertinent questions of the vets "best guess" as to what the illness is and whether the dog could expect a period of good health and wellbeing post any treatment. If it is believed that the dog's health will not return to a point that it is not going to suffer painful health problems, then it would be kinder to the dog to put it to sleep.
  16. My wife uses this for our caravan gas when I am not around. EBAY UK or most supermarkets will sell something similar.😁 Small jar openers
  17. All you can do is ask around for a shooting buddy at your club, if your in one of course. ask for a loan gun from the club or if your club has a gun shop buy a cheap starter gun and ask for it to be kept in their armoury, only other option is if your shooting buddy has room for a gun in his cabinet till you get your cert. This is the way I went about it, at least you can get out for a bit of practice and the time passes just a little quicker.
  18. I learned the hard way long ago, Never, under any circumstance let someone test drive your car without you being in attendance. In my case the bloody idiot burnt out my clutch by riding the pedal, resulting in clutch judder. Needless to say, the so-and-so denied all knowledge of it despite the fact you could smell the burning, and that's not to mention the oily fingerprints left on the roof lining.
  19. Yeah, I would think this is the case for most shooting clubs/schools at present. For quite a while the loan gun of choice was the "Silver Pigeon", but as you say, loan guns tend to live a hard life so a good quality, cheaper alternative makes a lot of sense.
  20. Now't wrong with the Turkish guns George, they make good starters, However, a bit like new cars , they lose most of their resale value the moment you walk out the gun shop door. I would suggest you make a quick cheeky offer to your mate for the 525, they are great guns and you cannot go wrong with a Browning. As you say, if it's been in his cabinet gathering dust for a while he may well be willing to strike some kind of deal. Well worth a try.
  21. yippi, Feeling like a dog with two d***s, I got my cert, finally landed on the doormat today 15/6/21. So for Leicestershire the average process time is now 112 days for new grants, that's not to say it will be the same for all applications though, just a general rule of thumb. Once visit was completed it took 15 days to issue cert. Collected guns from Orston g/c and salted them away in my cabinet, now I can't wait for Sunday so I can get out there.😁
  22. Thanks HR, Yeah it been a while coming but hopefully now it's just a matter of signing it off, I bet this will be the slowest passing 2 to 3 weeks I've had for a while.😊
  23. Yeah OK I think, Female FEO, quick run through of my general property security, gave the cabinet a good tug, bit of a discussion about why I needed a shotgun licence and that was about it, she did say that it would be about 2 to 3 weeks before it lands on my doorstep, but at least I can make a few plans now.
  24. Unfortunately that may well be the case, ios 10 is apple's operating system, what usually happens is that updates will be available for any Apple Mac devices up to the point where the internal hardware of a device is so out of date that it cannot cope with the demands of new operating systems, unlike desktops or towers systems, laptops and iPads are so prohibitive towards hardware updates that in most cases it is unfeasible financially to upgrade them, to purchase a new one is often the cheaper option.
  25. Guys it's probably your laptops, If anything was wrong with PW then more people would be experiencing it. In any case I have checked the site and there are no problems.(see attached) The problem may be your security package, specifically your virus protection,(assuming you have any). What normally happens is this, over a period of time, as you visit sites and open links you can pick up malware or worse still viruses. Whilst you are still getting to use your laptop on other sites or open your mail etc, etc, it's more likely to be malware rather than a virus. Malware can take several forms but the most likely, judging from your descriptions is malware called PUP's, (potentially unwanted programs), these tend to hijack some of your registry keys and cause problems with sites not opening or functioning properly. However, all is not lost, with the aid of two bits of freely downloadable software you can clear the problem yourself. The first download you require is Malwarebytes from here : https://www.malwarebytes.com/ Click on the free for home use version to download and then install it. Secondly, download a program called Glary's Utilities from here : https://www.glarysoft.com/ again download the free version and install it onto your laptop. Now to deal with the problems , firstly run malwarebytes and when it opens click on "SCAN", this will scan all your files, folders and registry keys, anything it finds will show up in red and be placed in quarantine, simply follow the instructions to delete any unwanted item's from the quarantined area, then exit malwearbytes. Now run Glary's utilities and when it opens you will see on screen " one click maintenance " which is the middle of the 3 options at the top, if not auto selected click on this and then at the bottom click "scan for issues " this program will then scan your laptop or tower for that matter, finding any issues, when it has finished scanning you will again see in red issues it has found, the important one is registry cleaner as this fixes any broken keys left by the removal of unwanted software by malwarebytes. you can also let it clean up short cuts, spyware, temp files and start up. Then simply restart your laptop and it should now be fine. NOTE!!! both of these programs have a free version which you can continue to use, but they are not capable of stopping re-infection, for that you need a decent anti-virus. As a post note to this iPad's use the ios operating system, and older iPad's will not allow the installation of the very latest operating variants of ios so that is why you cannot get updates of the latest bug fixes, only option is to upgrade your iPad for a new one or better still buy a computer that runs on Windows or Android.
