  1. Apart from the cars like the Lada and the Moskovich, there were a few of the red vans kicking around. There were sort of like a cross betwen a Volkswagen combi camper van and a Comma van. I think that they must still produce that van out in Russia because I saw a news clip wher2 the Russian military were using them as General rugged transport. Simple, rugged and built to last and do a job. Ugly as a pig. Sorry pig.
  2. The pink ones were sweet to shoot but the black ... oh oh darker coloured cased ones were loaded with powder left over from anti tank gun shells. I swapped 500 black Baikal's for 500 Winchester GB's with a mate who used them in a Franchi 5 shot Hunter. He loved them. They didn't half rattle the action back and forth. Pigeons up there with the jumbo jets on oxygen were at severe risk. I couldn't use them in my 25 " sbs. there was a muzzle flash like a pink candle flame shape about 6ft long out of the muzzle. it lit the wood up as if I were taking flash photos.
  3. Are gunshops refusing to supply cartridges to owners/users anyone who has ever had a Russian weapon yet.? In support of Ukraine. Or ever owned a moskavich or Lada car. Or drinks vodka ? Come on, own up. They'll find out you know. AND past users of baikal cartridges. Especially the black ones. 😀😀😁

A JEW ;;;! I suppose that I'd be a bit aggressive if someone had hacked half me Willie orf with a blunt pen knife. All the same he WAS / probably IS an arrogant obnoxious little toad. A traitor in the hoùse who did everything to stop BREXIT. Along with bliyer and major all three should have taken to the tower and been hung drawn and quartered.
  6. Martin Bell said "They asked what we can do; we'll have to do something". I offered to move Mbongo's hut nearer to the water hole and sort out a new bucket for him but they declined my offer and asked if I could contribute towards a new range rover so that they could go and film Mbongo's daily struggles. I declined their invitation. The Mrs has put in an offer that we could perhaps take in a fit young lad that could give her a hand and I offered to take in a pretty fit 18 year old gal that I could show how to relòad ammunition for the cause.
  7. Watching the WAR coverage is horrific and laudable though it is to offer help and support for those in need. I Don't think that anyone has put much though into how difficult it will be to cohabit with strangers in a home. Most will be women, girls and children. When the wife and I first got married we lived with her mum & dad. For about seven months before we got our house sorted. Living in someone else's home is hell. If I had to do it again I would rather live out in a tent or better a caravan. I can see much bigger problems of social personal interactions than whether an foe might question a person being in a home with guns. All of the normal personal vises can and will come in to pĺay especially when the refugees will mainly be female. Where does the goverment think that all of these people are going to be housed, employed , doctored, schooled after the six months or a year.? In some bed sit or some third rate hotel room. There is no way that these people will be going back to the unkraine in the foreseeable future. Firstly Russia won't be giving back this country and retreating with their tails between there legs and there won't be anything left to go back to for them. And are you going to look after some woman's kids when she is off out to find another breadwinner when her husband gets killed and then want to bring that bloke into your home also. There's multitudes of scenarios just waiting to be played out. Oh and before anyone starts criticising my comments take time to think it through. Why do you think that the government are dragging our feet somewhat. We might take the doctors, the teachers, the technicians, scientists and the liķe but I'm sure that is what they are screening for. Not road sweepers, rif raf. Romas, caravan club members and General Hobldy hoys. Irregardless of how sad it all is. My shoulders are broad and I've got me tin at out.
  8. Look up boys. There's a C 5B Galaxy transport (RCH868) (432 kts) just coming in over chippenham at 37000 ft heading east NE. It looks like it has come from Dover AFB. I wonder what goodies that has onboard. Perhaps it's special Christmas cake for Vlad. It looks like it's going straight on over Colchester. where to..?? Poland.? Lithuania. .?? Estonia..? I've got to go out shooting now so I won't be able to track it. Let me know guys
  9. Come on then enlighten me what's the ADS B exchange site. I'm interested. I've really never heard of it. edit.. OK let Google be your friend..... found it.

    Old technology

Well the ruskies banned the BBC and other stations online but old technology has been reinstated. Apparently in an attempt to get the word out to bypass Russian censorship their getting the steam engine out of the museum and going back to shortwave radio as per WW2. The BBC’s shortwave radio broadcast can be found on 15735 kHz from 6pm to 8pm and on 5875 kHz from midnight to 2am, Ukraine time. Do we have any Russians or Ukrainians on this site.?
  11. As I wrote. Physio and cortisone injections is akin to giving someone a pair of ear defenders when their car has a flat tyre. All you end up with is not a simple puncture repair but a tyre like a tattered rag and a wheel that is bent and buckled. Some doctors palm you off because it comes out of their budget. What do you get out of this.? ............ Quote from previous .....never really healed properly. This coupled with tendonitis and early onset arthritis all in my righ shoulder means that I don't shhot as much these days.
  12. Hmm. That's a jab that I haven't got to have yet.
  13. What age range are they issuing these jabs.?
  14. At present I'm ok BUT seeing as the gun is 1989 the wood is getting on a bit and it isn't very thick on the sides. The other side of the coin is that any forend is going to be similar state and it's a bit of an issue matching up wood grain, colour and grain pattern. Down to a glue repair if the thing cracks or splits.
  15. Just as a matter of interest ...., roughly what is the cost of forend wood.? Obviously there are different grades. I've got a 325 grade 5 gun
  16. Every day / weèk there is a constant conveyor belt of guns up for sale, most of which dont sell and a lot don't even get a response. A friend who has guns decided to move some on and buy a new gun. Now his guns are well looked after and in good condition but the gun shop wouldn't entertain trade ins. And basically was shown The door. We see so many good quality shooting guns that basically have very little second hand value. Side by sides being a good example. There are good AyAs on offer here but these dont even get a touch as the owner has placed a relatively high price on thes items, in relation these can be bought at next to nothing on auction sites. When I was your everone started with a single barrel of some sort and save up for a double at some stage when they could afford one. Nowadays most kids don't want anything to do with anything that's not connected to a mobile phone screen. The slow demise of country life as we knew it.
  17. I'm surptised at the total lack of sensible medical intervention for the problems that you guys have. I've been through all of this. I was given the physio... waste of time and doing more damage.....cortisone injections... gave relief for about 3 months before next shot, BUT again it is doing more damage. The doctor was more than happy to keep injecting me. Eventually a Belgian woman doctor physio saw me and went mad at the treatment that I had received. She sent me for an MRi scan which showed the damage to the tendon and I was sent for a repair operation to stitch the tendon and refix it to the bone. She said that if the type of treatment that I had received were to carry on the operation would have been a lot more dificult and it would have been like trying to refix a lump of tattered rag. This sort of treatment is disgraceful. . like giving someone a pair of ear defenders when they've got a flat tyre. Take no notice and kèep driving.!!! I ended up having a two hour operation under General anaesthetic. About six weeks out of action.... not able to operate arm at all. I would have been able to drive but I couldn't even get my arm to move to operate the gear stick. After nine weeks I was shooting clays again. Before the operation I could only lift my arm to horizontal. After the op and about 9 months I could lift arm to above head to the sky and regained muscle power. there is no way to get round a proper repair and healing time inconvienient though it might be. Ignoring the injury or getting quack medical treatment will only make the injury worse qnd make lo g term injury happen. By doing physio and camoflaging the problem wisith cortisone is just prolonging the injury a d making it a lot worse with a longer period out of action. I know how difficult this could be in regard to the self employed and with prices of everything on the rise it isn't easy but ignoring this is only going to get worse with even more time out.
  18. That is very pretty. Very similar to my AyA 25 sidelock.
  19. I had a motorbike battery in some sort of webbing bag that I pop riveted onto a wide leather belt. The lamp was à Honda 50 headlight fixed on a bent bracket with an inline switch. This was all new territory back then. Even that kit was a bit cumbersome in comparison to full sized car batteries. Later on I realised how pathetic the light power was on the old Honda headlight. There again it isn't always about producing day light white conditions. This can spook a target. I prefer to look quick, assess the target and ground, wind situation, then move to close the distance, look again and go from there.
  20. And at a shade under £300 for 1,000, they won’t break the bank. This is about the same stamp of the numpties at basic that without any consultation have stated that they expect that lead and plastic will not be used within 5 years. The cartridge manufacturers have counter stated that there is no way that this is possible. It seems that people like this are some sort of fifth column traitors.
  21. They are a good lamp. Brings back to memory of us 2 up on a quad with an extension cable from the battery that we were both sitting on. Somewhere on a taped over joint there was a flash over and the wire went red hot instantly . !!! You've never seen such a quick stop and disembark. We had to wrench the wire off. The seat was damaged and we both had scorched trousers. We had to abandon the patrol, go back to the farm to get a different lamp and resume patrol. I re-calbed the lamp and it was good to go another day. This time with proper connections and not wires twisted together. Blooming cowboy underkeeper.
  22. It is begining to get a race to get contributions of weapons, ammunition and explosives into the field. At some point there will be more guns and ammo than people to use them. And no paperwork anywhere. What's that you say sonny. Oh, you've only got ten thousand rounds in your shed, you'd better have another truck load. Back the truck up to his shed boys. And not a word from kwis about badgers or toxic lead fallout or pollution.
  23. It all makes our firearms laws a complete joke. On the box last night there was a convoy of lorries stack loaded up with boxes like coffins of brand new Kalashnikovs wrapped in what looked like rust resistant brown paper and LOTS of ammunition. There you go boys, and girls, roll up take a weapons and a few cans of cartridges. Anyone got a wheelbarrow. .? and away you go to kill. It is a bit ironic for Russian soldiers to be killed by a Russian weapon designed to fight for Russia against an invading army. When their invading another country. AND the wooden boxes can double up as body bits containers.!!
  24. Both err inside and myself said in harmony today.... "What's happened to Putin.? His face looks all fat round and flabby.?" It was when he was telling his generals to get on with it.
  25. As in opposition to Ross Kemp. He'd leg it over the horizon, pronto at the popping of a crisp bag.!!
