Never heard of this either :yp:

As Gordon said, have you recently moved to the area?

Have you or anyone living in your house ever been in trouble with the Police?

Excuse the question, but is the area you live in rough/high-crime?

More likely its something that your FEO has decided to 'make up' as part of the application procedure! :good:

Either way, just be honest and comply with them, it may feel intrusive but its an easier ride if you just play ball

If you have, and I am not saying that you have, had any illegal shooting experiences then I would forget them for the durration of the visit unless you suspect they already know about them. The shooting experiance question is fairly standard as far as I know though. However I have never heared of anyone being asked for a CV.

I've never heard of this either. As per some earlier advice, I'd give BASC a call (if you're a member) to talk it through, they may be able to speak to your firearms dept to sort it out. Only other advice I'd give is to comply with what they ask for if there's no other way, as to not do so would undoubtedly put your certificate at risk.

Good luck!

It worries me when these extra hoops are thrown at people wanting their SGC/FAC. If we do as the consensus on here says and do what they ask and don't question it suddenly it will become compulsory. We'll have a 20 page form to fill in with 5 yearly safety tests etc etc.

All at our expense all because no-one dared to stand up and ask WHY?

When I had my FEO visit I had the firearms security handbook, a load of BASC info and some other 'ammunition' if he wasn't happy with ANYTHING I would have challenged him. As it was we had a quick chat, drank me coffee ate me biscuits and didn't even need to see inside the safe! Was here 15 mins max.

No reason not to ask them to justify themselves. IMO

you say about a pnc check i paid £10 for that so i've done that for them.(if you want to do this it's called subject access form). i thought i was doing the right thing as i was trying to find out about 2 driving conviction's from 18 years ago as i was trying not to hind anything as i couldn't remember what they were.

Yeah, that's understandable if they were 18 years ago, I just can't understand why anybody would ask such questions, the guy sounds like a right Wayne Kerr..??

my feo asked me a bit about what i had done in life (career and why i had moved so much) He said it just helped him decide when he knew more about peoples backgrounds and what they had acheived in life. Afterall somebody who is hard working and trustworthy tends to advance in life (his words not mine) nick

Never heard of that before i have applied twice for my cert just got my second a couple of months ago never heard anything like that before usually they come round ask a few questions inspect your security gun cabinet etc and have a chat, then they can get a gp medical report and sometimes a crb check they usually talk to your countersigner as well but your situation is a new one on me i suppose every county firearms unit has its regs as well as the ammount of time to get your cert. hope it goes well just do everything they want you to do best chance to get your cert.

Yes, I got that too, but we had just moved 300 miles south a, and I was returning to shooting after a twenty year abscence, so I kind of expected it. But not a full CV. That is really a bit OTT.
