Sprinter
I was watching telly last night after a few jars when i dozed off (as you do) when i woke up there was a mouse on the chair next to me watching the telly. Cheeky ******, anyway as he isn't paying rent he has to go. Traps are laid just now x3 baited with a wee chunk of mars bar on each. Place your bets, how long before i get him? Frenchieboy
Oh, poor little mouse, where's your Christmas Spirit? lol
Sprinter
Nothing so far. My Christmas spirit is mainly in the cupboard or me, thanks for asking. Black Grouse is the current weapon of choice.
Sprinter
Have been out for a bit and i have been burgled. NO traps set off but all bait gone, sneaky rascals. Looks like i'll need to make a trip out to find some old fashioned wooden traps as i can't adjust the trigger pressure on these modern plastic ones. More updates when i have the hair trigger set. Sprinter
Still on the old traps. Two triggerings, no critters. Further update after several pints of Everards Original........
Fatcatsplat
Set yourself up in a hide behind the settee and blast them as they come out. Make sure you have a rifle and ammunition capable of doing the job humanely at that range though Also, have your dog ready in the event that it is a long retrieve. Bleeh
I once blasted a mouse using an air rifle, and a small amount of salt. I cocked the break barrel, then forced a very small tight cup-shapped piece of paper with rock salt down it. Saw Mr mousey - a bit of a boom - no more mouse (at 10yards open sights!). Shuck.
Oh, poor little mouse, where's your Christmas Spirit? lol I know! Must've been rubbish on the telly.. I once blasted a mouse using an air rifle, and a small amount of salt. I cocked the break barrel, then forced a very small tight cup-shapped piece of paper with rock salt down it. Saw Mr mousey - a bit of a boom - no more mouse (at 10yards open sights!). Why salt? To make it more painful??
Bleeh
Why salt? To make it more painful?? I'm shooting a mouse here, not a a person. It wasn't so it damaged anything if I missed, it also acts a bit like dust shot from a 9mm garden gun.
Ozzy Fudd
can you get dust shot for .22's as well? someone told me about it ages ago but thought they were having a laugh

shot shot
i would go for, night vision, more mars bars, weapon of choice pan shovel.. enjoy.. I prefer a coal shovel, but it'll do. It's especially fun moving bales in the barn and seeing who can get the most :look:
Sprinter
Another trap triggered, no moose. Im beginning to think i may be better off laying in wait with the 20g.
Sprinter
All gone v quiet, no traps triggered last night or today so far. Maybe it's gone back whence it came?
jonevo
Have you tried those glue mats boy do they work the only thing is you either have to peel micky from the glue mat or hit them on the swede and then peel them off but great trap, if you have a bit of the divil in you
windrush
Don't shoot it from behind though, that would be unsporting! I think it's ok if you wear a tie. OTOH, perhaps you should go with the flow of the 'Repenting and Maturing' thread on General Shooting Matters. Don't kill it - feed the thing and you can both watch the telly together in perfect harmony and feel better about yourself.
fieldwanderer
air pistol, put a cardboard box packed fairly tightly with newspaper on the fireplace (an airgun pellet won't harm marble I wouldn't have thought) and some bait in front of it - sounds fun to me
Sprinter
Well it hasn't gone back whence it came. It has just been out and about so i've had a quick shy at it with the tv remote control - missed Need another bait as it seems to have become wary of stilton and mars bar chunks. No doubt it'll be fairly wary of tv remotes now as well
philm
I get them in my garage, old wooden trap and a piece of milky bar normally gets them in a couple of hours.
fieldwanderer
jam on a bit of bread's meant to be good, I'd try to think of something tough though that'll force the mouse to pull it etc which should help the trap to work. I've also heard a glass milk bottle propped at 45degrees with bait in the bottom works well, a strong smelling bait and a route into it will be needed I assume. They can't climb the slippery sides to get back out.
alexr
Thank god for that . When I first read this i read moose not mouse . You had me very worried there , Partly I wanted to know what you had been drinking the night before, but then I wondered if perhapse we should be calling for the white van with the blue windows. :o But its only a mouse, Thank god.
