starlight32
A question for those that have may have done it before.......... As the title says I have lost me mobile.Battery flat as answerphone. But do know it is somewhere in the vicinity of the house or maybe indoors..... Now apart from ringing the company to check for use and blah,blah,blah...Is there any thing that can be done to trace it? Apart from the obvious of keep looking. I had a young nephrew round last night and I believe he may be responsible.....But unfortunately under interrogation until the the early hours at present he is only giving up name rank and number

Breastman
There are mobile tracing services like followme.com but i think they're only accurate to about 30m, plus i think the phone has to be switched on. I think its going to be matches down the fingernails for now! Mark

starlight32
I am pleased to announce that my phone has been found barely an hour ago. After a day of excuses from my missus and her sister of 'he has'nt done it' and 'what would he do with your phone' or you have put it somewhere like you always do' after he was clearly seen in the vicinity of it in the first place I have to say putting it inside the VCR is a pretty daft place to store it on my part even if I am from 'silly suffolk' All I can is thank god I am not fully converted to DVD for some of my classics and an evening showing of 'The longest day' has saved the day I appreciate all the interrogation advice advice given, but and I would like to smention he remained silent to the very end

starlight32
Starlight of course he put it there out of the road of his nephew in case he hid it ... Even I am not that daft......Why would I put it in my VCR and risk not being able to play my war movie classics? If it was me I would have put it in the washing machine soap drawer. Anyway the nephrew has one of his large toy tractors in the garden I might just be tempted to loosen the wheels... Billy.
I've got a MobileMe account and basically if my phone is lost, I can send a message to it to ring, even if it's off or on silent Even better; if my phone gets stolen, I can remotely use the GPS to find where it is to within 10 meters, lock the phone, wipe the info and message the person. So as they take the phone out of their pocket I can just stroll straight up to them and they'll be too busy trying to work out what the message is all about and not notice a knuckle sandwich on its way Edited January 27, 2010 by harfordwmj

Have you powers that will rival Superman. I assume you need some other piece of equipment to do all this because if someone has nicked your phone you won't be able to use that. Breastman
Its been around a while; http://followme.co.uk/ is the one i was familiar with. Intended for low-jacking employees that go out on site or for lost hikers etc, rather than chinning phone theives, but adaption of resources is a great human trait Mark

Yes I can see how it works but if you are out in the centre of london and some lowlife nicks your phone how do you kick that off? Easy. Just use someone else's phone. It's accessible over the internet. Here's what my MobileMe search screen looks like (Obviously I'm not going to let it pinpoint my exact location, as it'll lead people to my doorstep!) And you'll see the personalised message I can send to it, which also rings out, which is great if you've mislaid it in the house! haha
