Well I've listed mine. I'm not bothered who knows where I live and what I have in my house. Nearly everyone in my neighbourhood knows that i go shooting anyway. Plus, my house is fully alarmed and is like Fort Knox.

My final protection is a few photographs of my ex Mother -In -Law spread strategically about the house. They will frighten off anyone. :good:

Although I don't list my guns I must say that (as Steve B said) everyone in my village knows that I shoot and own guns so I have lots of potential theifs.

I think my signature serves a reason why someone shouldn't bother to try to come and rob my house!

However, if your guns are properly secured, you should have no fear in advertising what you've got. I can assure you that by the time a thief has found my gun cabinet, they'll be more concerned about how long they've been in my house, than how long it'll take to break into the cabinet :good:

I assume with a name like safetyfirst you are some kind of Health and safety bod who dreams up all kinds of non existent and far fetched scenarios in order to justify their existence.

Does it really matter if people list their guns and some of the scenarios you have "made up" would require a certain kind of nutter to carry them out.

Lol :good: Quite the opposite, health and safety is a terrible force to be reckoned with, you can't even bake cakes for your kids school any more ***!

I just thought it might be an interesting debate, I started the thread as I was just editing my signature and about to list my guns! 60 odd posts suggests people do have opinions about it!

Lol, first worthwhile posting in a while :good: It's all gotten a bit defensive, I'm off back under my bridge to wait for a goat.

Actually, I'm off to list my stuff in my signature, maybe someone wants my old Lee Metford, maybe someone has some tips about keeping an old 1100 cycling light loads, maybe I just like lists of guns ;)

I think it's the same as if you frequent a car forum, say you have a Ferrari or a collection.. what's to stop someone joining the forum and befriending you and robbing your keys??

Same risk but nobody seems to worry about that one ???

You can't point a Ferrari at a bank clerk though!!

Make a stylish getaway car mind :good:

I've seen quite a few folk list their collections in their signatures, which makes for interesting reading and has answered a few questions I had about what kind of collections the police deem reasonable for a start!

Thing is though, if someone wanted to steal some firearms, all they'd have to do is find someone with a big list and then befriend them until they had their home address....

I know that FEO guidelines when assessing security mention the FEO should consider if it is widely known that the applicant has weapons on the premises....

Am I to cynical and cautious?

very valid question
