claybreaker88
Same here have been out the last couple of weeks on rape two large fields in question no a lot of pigeons at all there is still a source of food elsewhere for them maybe the frost will kill of lots of berries, beech mast, sugerbeet tops etc and then slowly they will turn their attention to rape. ferretmanabu
Me and a mate shot 27 this weekend. I had my personal best of 20 after a year of pigeon shooting. I must be getting better or maybe the pigeons here are dafter. Shot over rape by the way and if my shooting was better the number should have been more like 50. Vermin Dropper
Monkey.... You could try the old Archie Coats trick of throwing a dead pigeon out of the hide at an opportune moment, never tried it myself but it's meant to work. wacker
Went out yesterday early with my mate, saw hundreds flighting for the first feed, set up & went home at the end of the day with grand total of 1 pigeon & 1 rook! (which Pete shot) Oh, & a very muddy Land rover. :*)
pigeon master
Ive struggled to get on the pigeons all year, work and more work. The numbers starting to flock are massive, the most Ive seen round on my patch for a long time so its an early morning session on the rape very soon. Been out getting a few rabbits with the rimmy and low and behold not a sign of mixy compared to the scores of them in summer. The PM
kdubya
Been out to 3 different farms in the last five days all new ones to me? did ok at the 1st two even though it was my 1st time on them and was sussing them out as I shot? went out today LOTS of pigeon about set up a nice pattern and 2 flappers (with remote on off) birds going over me and dropping into the middle of the field would NOT come in will try again when the wind is up a bit and see if a rotary will work next time? ended up banging a few black fella's so my hide must have been spot on! cheers KW
old rooster
Unless you guys are getting a few windier days than we've had lately I doubt you'll shoot many pigeons. Calm again here today but at least no frost this morning.
Catamong
Strong and bitterly cold northerly winds forecast for the coming weekend - ideal Pigeon shooting weather - no excuses then chaps..!!
claybreaker88
I agree with double h the recent frosts and cold snap has nearly killed any food for the pigeons and the winds from the north Friday through to Monday should throw the chaps around a bit more hopefully. Axel
Dont know what they're feeding on here as I havent got one for a while! The OSR fields do have patches of damaged crop but figuring out where to set up at this time of year is as difficult as always. Also, a local top pigeon shooter, who shoots the same ground I do, recently got 500+ here, so there's not as many around as before. Think I'll try some roosting soon (in none game shooting woods of course). Good shooting, Axel.

The Beater
Shot 18 pigeons on sunday short session 2:30 till 3:30 decoying over a poor crop of stubble turnips. The field is right at the foot of a roost shooting wood i have which some 300/400 birds use. Noticed for past week just as birds start coming in to roost rd 3ish in groups of 10/20 they all land for a last snack b4 they all go to roost rd 4ish. Could of shot more by shooting an other 1/2 hr but packed up at 3:30 so a good number of birds never got to hear a shot, dont want to put them of roosting there.
