macca_01
I am tossing up between buying a breakdown gun cabinet or full length cabinet. I dont want to limit my future shotgun purchases by buying a breakdown cabinet. I have my eye on an o/u but what happens if I want to buy a semi in the future and I only have a breakdown cabinet? My question is, can you breakdown a semi-auto to fit in a breakdown cabinet. I have never used a semi so hense the question.
steve_b_wales
Yes, you can take the barrel off a semi-auto. Personally, I would go for the full length cabinet.
EMcC
Yes, you can take the barrel off a semi-auto. Personally, I would go for the full length cabinet. The full length cabinet has my vote and another thing, a bit petty but, you can keep your cleaning rods in a full size one too
the running man
And also you can put you're gun In a full length cabinet still in its slip if u can't be botherd to clean it! Or clean it put it in its slip and put it in cabinet, ure ready to go wen u wanna go shootin! The possibilities for not messing about with a take down case are endless,oh yeah u can keep ure rods in all! Shuck.
If you can be bothered to take the forend & barrel off, then put the forend back on every single time you go out then go ahead, I can see it getting tiresome though! Why are you concidering the breakdown, is it price or space issues?
sitsinhedges
Don't be stingy, buy a full length cabinet and make sure it will take at least a couple more than you ever intend to buy
Paul223
My question is, can you breakdown a semi-auto to fit in a breakdown cabinet. Yes, and it's quite easy when you've done it a few times, easier to have a full length cabinet though

Ozzy Fudd
go for a full size cabinet with plenty of room for more guns
Pigsy
Definitely go for a full length cabinet. From embarressing and painful experience I can telly that a broken down Franchi Raptor won't go into a JFC breakdown cabinet. Hence why I have to buy a full length cabinet this week! Dekers
Unless space is a real issue, seriously consider a full length cabinet!
Imperfection
I agree with the others-dont hinder yourself cos later on you'll want more guns of some description.
macca_01
Thanks to everyone for the replies and advice - I have the space, I was being a bit economical with the £££. Looks like I will be putting a bit more in the budget for a full length cabinet.

The difference isnt that much drop Dekers a PM (DJSproducts) or put a wanted add up I bought a 4/5 gun and with one SxS one air rifle and the slips its tight! I am hoping to pick up an O/U this week and then it will be FULL! I helped a mate fit a 3 gun and while 3 will go in not much else will also try here http://www.gandc.co.uk/cabinets.html the 4 gun should be a good price Edited May 12, 2010 by HDAV
