SSS
Well, I am sat here in my hide with the rotary spinning away infront of me, and I am having a quiet spot which has got me thinking. I know the question about cats has been asked on here many many times, but... What are the laws regarding shooting racing pigeons?

SSS
if you shot 1 of mine i would be around you house knocking on your door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is like shooting someones dog I will remember that next time I see you walking your pigeons, or if I see one with its collar on with your name and address on it. Its easy to spot things like that at 40 odd yards any how
Lloyd90
if you shot 1 of mine i would be around you house knocking on your door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is like shooting someones dog Aw grow up Its not super easy to spot a racer coming in fast and sharp on a pattern but on the occasions we do, we let em go besides how on earth would you know if someone shot one ? Do you follow them home ? If so I advise you quit releasing them and stay in the house, far less trouble

Cranfield
Racing pigeons that are racing, or on exercise flights are very easy to spot and impossible to confuse with a wood pigeon, unless the shooter is very inexperienced. Racing pigeons that have gone feral and hang around with the other feral pigeons are a different matter. You can't see rings from 30+ yards. Next time you see a group of ferals being fed in a town square or wherever, have a look at how many have rings on, its usually quite a few. SSS
I agree with you to a certain extent cranfield, but when they fly in with 2 wood pigeons, it is rather difficult in all the excitement
shakin stevens
i let them fly round make really good decoys for the woodies!!!!! Edited July 8, 2010 by shakin stevens
Cranfield
Those that fly in with wood pigeons, or come to your decoys are not racing pigeons. Some local persons tame doves may be on the fields feeding, but racing pigeons race, they don't stop to feed.
Quickshot
A racing pigeon that has stopped to feed is very rare. Normally they have turned feral. QS
Billy.
but racing pigeons race, they don't stop to feed. I beg to differ. This is a greasy spoon cafe for pigeons, just off the M1 - J16

Cranfield, not wanting to argue with you, but what I saw today was a racing pigeon, I can assure you 100%
al4x
what he means is its not a useful racer, some do stop for whatever reason tiredness or lost etc and just feed with wild pigeons. These were they to go home would only get their necks stretched as they are useless for racing. you'll often see them in farmyards mixed in with the feral ones
