wymberley
Hi, Sounds to me as if this is going to end up as the PW signet ring. Cheers
Bazooka Joe
Thanks for the comments. I'm going to make a batch, & have members names in the order of the comments on the thread, Each member will be PM'd as one becomes available, just to make sure they are still interested. I've being let down badly by our glorious Royal Mail lately, out of my control, but all sorted now So from now on they will be posted recorded BJ

wymberley
BJ, hi, Wasn't going to ask as I know that you're probably busy, but if you are going to make a batch, then, yes, please. Cheers, Phil
charliebrown
Im lucky enough to have recieved one of these rings and can confirm that are top class! Ive had it the last few days and have been baffled how BJ manages to get the coin to fit inside. The only thing I would say is that if your fingers are as fat as mine you will strggle to get it on anything but your little finger. Its currently on a chain and I might try to get it enlarged (although BJ has advised against it as the steel may seperate.)

Won't the size get bigger the further up the barrell you cut? Dan
Rogan Josh
Or you could at leat show us all how to make them! Knock yourself out. Annealing the coin before you start helps stop any cracking caused by the hammering. Edited August 29, 2010 by Rogan Josh

Bazooka Joe
Won't the size get bigger the further up the barrell you cut? Yep,....... problem is your governed by the size of the coin, & the method I use to make them. Nice try Rogan Josh, but that's not the way I make them, credit given to the lad on YouTube, I may have a go sometime, I like his idea of both sides of the coin (writing) being on the inside at the same time. I can get the writing near enough prefect on mine, hitting the coin with a hammer you'll obviously cannot. Anyone who's in the Toolmaking trade will know how to make these, Cheers, BJ
silpig5
i have one of these rings and wear it on a chain because its easier to show people the craftsmanship. they are a talking point regaurding the seamless coin insert !!!! once again , thank you bj , best thing ive bought myself this year (excludung 452 !) much better value than a lap dance ! lol redan , next time at deighton will show you if you havnt got one by then . cheers adi

I suspect that given a bit of practice and enough time you can get both near enough perfect. I've seen ones with the writing on both the inside and outside. I can't figure out how they manage to do that though. Edited August 30, 2010 by Rogan Josh

That RJ, believe it or not, is even easier to do than the ones I'm making now. I'm going to have a go & see if I can get both the writings on the inside of the ring, but I'll try doing it a different way. Looks like I'll be wasting a few coins trying BJ. hamish64
Had half an hour to spare the other day, so I decided to try something different. Years ago serving my time, we used to knock rings out made from the old Florins/Half Crowns, & sell them for pocket money. So, having bought set of Damascus Barrels, which was for another project, namely a Damascus Knife, which never came about, basically because the steel is no good for the job...long story..!! Anyway, not wanting to waste the Steel I thought I'd make something different, a Damascus Ring, with a Half Crown Ring fitted in the inside. I'm disappointed with the Photo's though, they haven't turned out as well as I would have liked them to. Beautiful ring, congratulations
