955i
the imature rat looked half poisoned, magies do have their uses then Looked to me like it may have been injured in some way given all the flies buzzing round the back end of it. ollie
wonder did the magpies eat it in the end. It certainly had fun stabbing at it.
wy111
And people wonder why we try to elimate Maggies. Thats a rat, which ok, looks a bit sickly, but put up a decent scrap. What chance have any bird chicks have? NONE Good find, hope the "huggers" see this
deeksofdoom
That to me looks like a mouse and not a rat!

Frenchieboy
Most of those "Bird Of Prey" videos are amazing Steve! I only wish I could have filmed my Female Harris Hawk in action when I had her - She had quite a clever little knack of taking crows - She would just sit in a fence post waiting for them to come on mobbing her just waiting for one to come in that bit too close when she would take to the wing and suddenly flip over and grab the crow from underneath. It was an amazing sight to see compared to when she hit a pigeon when it was just an explosion of feathers!
deputy dog
Well looking at the out come of that all action scrap. I can safely say i don't think it will be a rematch on the cards lololol. I seen chickens once doing that to a sparrow which got itself winged and fell in the chicken run. All the times i saw the sparrows eating away happily with the hens and cockerel, not once did i see any sign of agression against any of them. But that one time they must have saw the little sparrow had a weakness and went for it. And boy did they give it what for. Not much left to disguard after i can tell you. 15 mis they pecked, scratched an tossed it around untill they got bored. An hour later and the sparrows and chickens were all back feed in harmony together like nothing had gone on lol.
njc110381
That's why you shouldn't send your dog to pick up corvids! Good on the Magpie. I'd have shot it once the Rat was dead though!
lee-kinsman
It was a small rat, however, quite entertaining. Wish I had the camera the other week when I was shooting magpies stealing my chicken feed. I shot one magpie in the head and as it started to do flip a rat the size of a horse ran out from the hedge and grabbed it. I'd tried to shoot the rat but a moving target is hard work with an air rifle. I'd never seen that before, I was well surprised.
