Lez325
I have just aquired a Howa 223 - and am allowed to purchase 200 rounds and hold 300 rounds- so as soon as I had the Howa I set off in search of some ammo to shoot through it- excited as you'd expect lol I 1st went to Avalaon guns - about 15 miles from me and bought 5 boxes of Winchester 55 grain for what I thought a decent price of £19 a box he only had the 5 boxes in stock 2nd place I tried was Sportsmans ,Nr Dorchester- They had Winchester 55 Grain they were asking £35 40p a Box almost twice the price- I said to the chap there "Ive just paid £19 a box less than an hour ago"- he claims that the military are using all the 223 that Winchester ( or any other maker produce) and there is now a shortage of 223 ammo in this country- I laughed in his face and left I telephoned Sportsman in Exeter who are doing Winchester 55 grain for £22 a box and its the same dam company So what the price you pay for 223 ammo?? Just curious Les Edited September 27, 2010 by Lez325

allthegearandnoidea
The last time I bought any they were PRVI Partisan 55gr soft points from Rugby Gun shop and they cost me in the reigon of £7 per 20. I cant remember the exact price. Before that I got the same from Thomas Turner in Reading and they were £9 per 20. About a year ago I bought some remington soft points for £22 per 20 and some American Eagle hollow points for around £18 per 20. My CZ seems to like the PRVI which is good for me as they are the cheapest.
Dunkield
American Eagle hollow points for around £18 per 20. That sounds a lot, the ast time I bought those (a year or so ago) they were £7.80/20, I can't believe they have gone up that much

jamie g
yes the silver tip brand of winchester cost more then the winchester x ammo. sako 50 and 55 grain softpoints are good ammo and pretty cheap
al4x
yes the silver tip brand of winchester cost more then the winchester x ammo. that is probably where the confusion is coming in, maybe they are confusing the types of winchester ammo. Silvertips seem very good but not sure I'd pay mega money for them
Lez325
They would need to be solid gold before I'd pay £35 a box I have a box in front of me now- its a yellow box green bands White Lettering, on the end it states 223 REMMINGTON Express Rifle. 55 GR. PSP R223R1 these rounds are not silver tipped they are soft point and Avalon Guns Charge 1/2 the price that Sportsman do- I cannot see how thats right - as a bonus Ive just been given 40 Sako 50 grain Ballistic tipped to try Les Edited September 27, 2010 by Lez325

I was on the phone to Henry Kranky's just the other day about Partizan Ammo. I was after some in .222 flavour but they said that at the moment they had none and that they are waiting for a delivery which they are not expecting till the end of October. I don't know if this is the same situation with other calibers though but it is quite possible as I am led to believe that they are the main importers for Prvi Ammo.
