Rooney Staying!

Its a bloody strange one after the things he said?

I hope Sir Alex made him grovel - and despite what City and Chelski say, they would have taken him without a second thought!

I only wish they had kept his salary at £90k and then made him show his commitment (not that 90k would have been a hardship :good: )

This was Fergies greatest ever mind game, he as the manager with all the background staff reliying on him keeping his job can not come out and openly critisis the owners, he can however send out wayne to cause all this and force the owners to give him/wayne assurances of investment in the future, he used to do the same thing with roy keane to comment of refs and other managers/players. Fergie is a genius and knows exactly what he is doing. The thing that is intresting to me is that Wayne has signed a 5 year deal and stated its due to the managment in place, so what has Fergie agreed to ? will he also be staying another 5 years?

I agree with you mate. Not just Rooney but some of these 'High Profile' players really need to take reality check-they command riddiculous sums of money for playing football.Do a couple of shifts of hard graft in proper work they need,to see them lighten up a bit.

Too much money they are on!

So he has signed a 5 year contract, but whats the betting that he is sold for top dollar before 3 years are up ?

These negotiations were all about protecting an investment.

If the deal had not been done then Rooney could have been sold in January for around £20-30 million, in 2-3 years time it will be nearer £80 million.

Sadly, that is the most likely outcome - Ronaldo's move to Real was exactly the same.

I think it is one of 2 things: 1) he was trying to get more money out of United or 2) he thought his image would have too badly damaged for the way he had gone about things, especially because important people in football were cracking up about it.

I would rather we got a couple more years out of him and get the true value of what he is worth, than sell him for peanuts in January.
