richg
I thought this may be of interest to any PW members looking for some cheap game shooting. The 3,500 acre Leadenham Hall estate nr Lincoln has just offered a few 50 bird boundary days with the keepers for just £600 per day, max 6 guns, thats only £100 each plus tips. This established shooting estate charges £30.00 per bird for driven days. I know the shoot well, so i have booked two days. They will go quick at this price, so move fast if you are interested. The shoot secretary is michala.hart@integralis.com Please mention my name, Richard Gray, as this will earn me browney points with the shoot captain and the keeper. Good luck. Evil Elvis
So are they any good usually?
the_commoner
can be pretty good, usually used a a bit of a 'dogging in' excercise on big estates to get the birds back into the main estate covers etc i have had some very good boundary days, usually quite relaxed and informal in comparison
got_the_eye_in
Interesting offer there! I may well take the opportunity for the 6th of Dec
richg
Further to the fact that i have booked two days at Leadenham, and to give a bit more info on boundary days for those of you who are not familiar with this type of shooting. Me and my friends already take boundary days on another nearby estate and they go like this. We arrive at 9am for coffee at the head keepers house, three keepers do the beating, we can walk or stand as we please, we travel in the keepers Land Rovers from drive to drive,we do short mini drives on areas of the estate not normally done on formal days but later in the season we do some outside main drives that are getting thin, so we get to shoot proper driven birds.we stop for a drink after two or three drives, and have a break for lunch at about 1pm. doing another two or three in the afternoon. The final bag will be about 50 head of game, this does not include ground game or pigeons which can normally be shot, we often have a total of 60 or 70 head for the day. We normally contribute £30 each on the day as a tip for the keepers for their efforts, but this is discressionary. Leadenham is 3,500 acres, so plenty of scope. There is an escarpment that runs right through the shoot, so can show some very high birds. One of the reasons i love these days is the fact that you get to shoot on some great estates that would normally be out of reach. I hope this helps you decide. But my advice is get in quick, you wont be disapointed. Rich g

Paul T
Anyone fancy making up a team for next Monday?? I'm in Emailed Michala and there's only 3 booked (including me) for Monday 29th! She says we need another 3 guns for this day to go ahead. This is a bargain price for game shooting, so I can't believe there's not been more interest   . scolopax
Still looking for more guns for Monday, we need another 2 or 3 to make the day a goer. Should be a great day, cold with possibly a bit of snow on the ground. Got to be better than a day at work.....!
Paul T
Well, I've emailed and phoned (left messages Wednesday and today on Michala's answerphone) and come up with absolutely zip! No returned calls or emails - nothing! All I've had from them is one initial email and nowt since. I've had a couple of phone calls with PW's Scolopax and we reckon we might have 4 or maybe 5 (2 other guns registered interest with the shoot already), but when no one responds from the shoot how the hell are we supposed to sort things out? Maybe they can't be arrised with a little bit of co-ordination to help smaller parties form a team, who knows? All in all a poor performance and I'm having serious reservations regarding the organisation of this shoot - if it ever goes ahead! A good time to come up with a plan B for Monday methinks Paul
richg
Did you get a reply from the shoot?
Paul T
Got a phone call about 12.00 Sunday to say it was late notice, but were we still interested? Said the other guns that had booked direct had dropped out so we were even further away from a full team though. Did say I was disappointed with the poor communication. Obviously the day didn't go ahead :(
