al4x
if you happen to want anything from GMK seems like they have plenty of most things in stock, my sako should be here tomorrow that was looking at 2-3 day delivery
ajb403
I asked for 300/350 for .308/7.62, Hampshire sent my ticket back stating .308 300/350 AND 7.62 300/350, my new FEO in Somerset picked up on this and they'll be reducing it to .308/7.62 300/350, no skin off my nose, I couldn't justify (or afford!) to have 700 centrefire rounds sat in the cabinet! Cheers Ashley

apache
I asked for 300/350 for .308/7.62, Hampshire sent my ticket back stating .308 300/350 AND 7.62 300/350, my new FEO in Somerset picked up on this and they'll be reducing it to .308/7.62 300/350, no skin off my nose, I couldn't justify (or afford!) to have 700 centrefire rounds sat in the cabinet! Cheers Ashley My understanding was that reducing your ammo allowance corresponded to a partial revocation of your FAC and they have no right to do so. Bit like having an open cert, moving over the county boundary and the new force closing it. It doesn't matter if you buy them in fives, they have no right to reduce it. I would speak to your shooting organization NOW.

Vince Green
It depends what the supply of ammo is like round where you live. If you are going to be scratching around all the time to get ammo it can be a real PITA. There always seems to be shortages these days and if you have to drive miles you want to be able to buy a reasonable amount when you get there. Not two boxes Posters are always coming on here these days saying they can't get this ammo or that ammo because their local gunshop has run out or doesn't stock what they want. Go for a good amount and use shortages as your reason if challenged. It doesn't cost any more to ask for more. Dekers
It should be about what you require and use and is sensible. This of course can only be established over time and most start with a "smallish" allowance. If you want more then ask! I think all of mine are bigger now than on first grant, and they weren't that bad then. But I use them all for target and business so I do get through a few. My .223 is 1000/1200 and my .243 and .308 are both 500/600, that does for me. All my rimfires are 1000/1200. As I say it is about justification, I also hold the FAC for my club and that lists: .22RF 5000/5000 .223 5000/5000 .303 5000/5000 .243 5000/5000 7.62/.308 5000/5000 7mm Rem Mag 5000/5000 YES 5000 of each, to be honest even I don't know how we managed it, we hardly scratch the surface, and whilst we have access to the Armoury at Bisley, can you imagine what that lot weights, let alone what it would cost!?
