Bleeh
Before anyone else comments, may I remind everyone that the best way in defending our sport is by clear, rational arguement backed up with sourced facts and figures, not acting like a ****** off white van man. phaedra1106
So they show 1999 onwards, if you look at the archived data it shows the gradual drop to 1997/8 then a steady rise AFTER the handgun ban, even now handgun offences are still over 50% higher than before they were banned. Funny how they don't mention that
Scully
They mostly spout a lot of 'emotive' rubbish,cherry-picking statistics to suit their agenda(like all organisations)but for an organisation that reputedly only has about 5 members they don't half get some exposure. Coolhead
http://www.gun-control-network.org/GCN02.htm what a bunch of silly billys!!! Don't worry about them. I'm surprised you haven't come across them before though. These and Mothers Against Guns are the main UK anti groups. They are a small "anti" outfit but they have a disproportionately large influence through some shady political contacts. Their current avenue of attack is to muddy the waters by including uncontrolled airguns and airsoft crimes in their statistics. All anti's, without exception resort to irrational opinion in the absence of facts to support them. Therefore they always become their own worst enemies. Their odd behaviour alienates any mass support of their views.

Vince Green
Like others have said, been around for a long time, nasty little politically motivated group that often tries to appear much bigger and influential than they really are. Don't underestimate them though, they sit or have sat on some pretty influential commitees and quangos with saleries to match. Questions have often been asked regarding their funding. Cranfield
I think by posting their webiste link on a very busy shooting Forum, you give these people more publicity than they deserve.

danro
Wikipedia says this about weapons.. Wikipedia weapon A weapon is an instrument used with the aim of causing harm or death to human being — and for inflicting damage upon civil or military infrastructure and life-sustaining natural resources. In essence, it is a tool made with the purpose of increasing the efficacy and efficiency of such activities as hunting, fighting, the committing of criminal acts, the preserving of law and order, and the waging of war. The GCN on their objectives page, point 2 say this... One certification system for all legal weapons i.e. rifles, shotguns, airguns. Oh please sir! Please! Let me register and have a chat!!! It would be sooooo much fun. Once certificate for kitchen knives, crowbars, car jacks, cars, vans, lorries, matches, deep fat fryers, toasters, pens, pencils, bottles, hands, feet, teeth, heads... Some people REALLY do not understand what it is they are asking for... I bet the people who tun the GCN also put this advert in the San Francisco press
