Fishermanpaddy
Hi folks, Just got the variation back at the weekend for the CZ and I was Just wondering if any of you have this rifle and what sort of subs it likes and more importantly which it does not like? I fired about 40 CCI subs (40gr) through it at the weekend and while they were very accurate, the odd one seemed to fail to load properly which left the bullet slightly bent and therefore useless. So from experience are there any subs which would cycle cleanly and group nicely without breaking the bank? And apart from Subs any other reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Cheers I don't have an American but I do have a 452 Style in .22lr. When I picked it up McCloys told me that CCI don't cycle properly from time to time through CZ's, I tried a few of my mates CCI and they didn't cycle all the time. I use either Remington Subs (£6 per 100) or Eley (£4ish per 50), the Eley is a bit more accurate than the Remington but very little difference. My CZ didn't like Winchester Subs at all, so never use them anymore.

Cheers Most accurate at range 80yds + Lapua subsonic great accuraccy to 50+ and tremendous killing power CCi segmenting holopoints. Winnies ok at 50 to be honest there is hardly much in it with any at 50 yds most will group so tight as to make little difference. Worst ever Remmington without a doubt. I stick with the Lapua now knowing if i miss its me
Ian750
If I were you I'd buy a hundred rounds of at least 3 different brands. Start with a clean barrel, shoot somewhere between 20 and 50 rounds, clean the barrel again and change brand. Keep going till you've used all the brands. Only this way will you find out what your own rifle prefers. Do your very own Pepsi challenge! This is what I did and found out my rifle prefers Eley or RWS. Still got a brick of Winnies to use up though

Eley is hole on hole at 55 yards though, but each one is a dead bunny.

Still got a brick of Winnies to use up though I'm with you there buddy, got a shed load of Winchesters after trying Eleys and switching to RWS, to me the RWS's seem to have a bit more clout and the hollow point is smaller on so the accuracy is better. And theres only 50 pence per 50 difference between them
onlyme
my 452 likes in the order of accuracy eley lapua rws winchester dont even bother with remmies or cci junk both are cack in mine what i use in the field are winnies for there extra stopping power, and if im having a play with some targets out to 300 yards !!! eleys everytime, nothing else comes close .... pretty dam accurate those things !in the real world though under lamp, if its in an inch at 80 yards , who cares its a dead bunny .. Dekers
Well, thats a good few makes mentioned, and just goes to show the only real way forward on this is to try a few. ...and mine gets fed Magtech 40g HP subs almost exclusively, and has done for some time now, they are excellent in mine and commonly give touching holes out to 80 yards, others sometimes struggle to get them on the same page at 50 yards. Funny old world! PS. the Magtech and Winchester have a large HP, many other brands don't, this certainly makes them very effective upon arrival! Fishermanpaddy
Thanks for all your input folks seems like Eley are the favoured choice. Was trying to get Eley Subs today but nowhere had them, think I will have to try further afield. I did pick up a box of Remington Subs from the brother and shot 40 of them today with 2 misfires and wildly varying groupings at 70 yds so iv come to the conclusion that they arent very reliable . Anyone any ideas where in the north I could come by some Eley or Winchesters. There doesn't seem to be many in stock around Tir Eoghain. I could get you as many Winchester & Eley's as you want in Aontriom, bit far for you to travel though as the place I am talking about is outside Ballymena. I can't believe so many people have had problems with Remington, I think they are grand.

Hi Ollie, I have a run to Coleraine in a few weeks so I could go the roundabout way through Ballymena, Where abouts did ya have in mind? I hoped that the Remington would have worked for me but after the second misfire I just gave up on em which is a shame since they are a good price, but I guess its just the luck of the draw. shoughton
Winnies or Eley Subs go through my CZ452 American fine - and virtually with the same zero. I stick with the Eleys - mostly as I prefer to stick with something but slightly as I prefer the smell of the powder after the shot . How sad is that.
