fortune82
Thankfully this does not involve me. I was playing golf with a mate yesterday who is currently looking divorce in the face. Him and the mrs have been stupid with their cash and have £24,000 of credit card debt. Anyway the credit cards are ALL in his name. As far as he is concerned it is his debt and he will be left with it when they divorce. My understanding was it will be split between the two of them. Anyone know the answer? Im sure his divorce lawyer will tell him for a few hundred quid mind!

steve_b_wales
My first wife, now my ex ran up a total of £17.000 on 'her' credit cards. Sadly, she was the 'spouse' and I was the card holder. When she finally departed I was left to pay off the debts, as the cards were in my name. :(
Cranfield
Is this a genuine situation, or an experiment relating to, "conflict in a management situation" ? http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/164968-aggressive-rottweiler-thread/
MaybeNextTime
It's his debt. It was the best part of £60,000 when it was my turn

Vince Green
When a marriage all the assets are divided. Debts can be considered as negative assets. Reverse the situation if your wife has run up massive credit card debts in her name do you honestly think you could walk away from them simply by divorcing her? Gordon R
I find it hard to imagine a divorce where the assets consisted only of £24k debt. Is that the total sum of their "assets"? fortune82 - the boy who cried "Wolf". You and your "friends" lead exciting lives, where quite a lot happens. Sorry - I'm 1001% sure this thread is genuine.
Kes
I think you need to get a life rather than talk about two other lives separating. ACG or - all credibility gone for me.

And, before you even think about it, this is about fortune's friend, certainly not his own situation

No in most marriages there are house , cars, guns, horses pensions all sorts of things and it ends up as a balance sheet. The only thing is the man almost never ever comes out on top. If there are kids involved might as well buy yourself a batman siut now and start checking out access to gantrys on the motorway because before too long you will be up there with "Fathers for justice"
