Best handling semi on the market. I found out after I'd sold it why it was jamming, it was nothing serious, but I couldn't be ar5ed to get it sorted at the time. Thanks in advance James. hi a mate of mine had a 1400 found it very fussy with any thing under 32 gram. had two 1100 they are good guns tad heavy to lug about but are prone to parts breaking, the link broke on mine cost 24 quid, just a piece of stamped metal ejecters are prone to. i have a sx3 for sale in mint condition 625.00 cant go wrong with some thing like these last you life time Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Most are great guns, some are not so good, some people like them, some dont. Schmoo Posted July 4, 2011 Report Share Posted July 4, 2011 (edited) Have you considered a Biakal MP153 semi. I bought one about a month or so ago, have nothing but the upmost praise for it. I have put 2 1/2" 21g clay loads right thru to 3 1/2" 42g loads without any adjustment and without a glitch. I ran a 21g a 32g and a 42g all thru it in the same go ( holds 3 cartridges ) not a problem. I have neglected it of late and have been out shooting clays and in the field after pigeons, I must have run in excess of 500 cartridges thru it and have not cleaned it as yet, stillworks like a dream, I will give it a clean this weekend at some stage, mind you I have been saying that for the last few weekends ! Have a look on you tube a french canadian guy puts one of these thru its paces, it is sold in the US as a remmington spr143 or something like that, and the ruskies love em. Its made by the same people that make the AK47, its a proper rugged workhorse, designed to do the job its intended for, shhoting things with no glitches. Its very sturdy and industrial, not the nicest looking gun in the world, but I dont ever remember a pigeon getting the chance to admire any of my guns ! It has the same stigma attached to it, that Skoda cars do. Skoda cars are known for being very reliable, albeit industrial / tractor like but a 100% work horse. Plus they are so sturdy you can bang any wonky fenceposts back in with it !!!! One tip to remember, dont go with looks go with function. Good luck on your hunt for a semi. Regards Schmoo. Thanks in advance James. funny how no one has thrown the browning maxus in the mix, had mine around 8 months,that,s not a long time i know but around 2000 shells been fired in it some at clays most at pigeon never jammed once, with all kinds of loads and cartridge brands gone through it they are lovely to shoot and handle. only thing not cheap, but get a mint 2nd hand one for around £900. but if its cheap your after then an escort is the one. It had been used as a water fowling gun and the wood had been linseed oiled, not to my liking, so I drew the oil out and satin varnished it. Looks and shoots as it should and she has had some abuse. I believe the ones I have seen new are about £500 plus new, but worth it I think. I was saving for a new one when this one showed up, so I took a punt on it and havent looked back. Schmoo. I would avoid the Winchester 1400 as they are an old model and spares might be hard if not nigh on impossible to come by. 30 years ago I had 2 of these and got rid of both as they would persisantly jam even using Winchester cartridges. As for Remy 1100's, I've had a couple of these and apart from Victory cartridges jamming in the mag due to inconsistancy with the brass head sizes (some were slightly oversize)I have had no problems at all. If you can find a good one, you should be ok and spares are readily available. As for being considered a heavy gun, I would say not and I'm no man mountain. They do have a steel rather than an alloy receiver which makes them more durable in my opinion. But each to their own. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
