Glensman
Vit was mid 70s last time I bought some ( early 11), thats a 1kg tub so 2.2 lbs. A Thats better value. I was doing the maths last night for my .223 and it was coming back as: 22p per head (50gr v-max) 4p per primer 14p powder 40p per shot (and that's only because I was given a load of brass) How does that compare to you guys? John_R
I was lucky enough to get 1Kg of VV N140 for £60 at a show a couple of months back.
phaedra1106
I got 3.5Kg of N140 2 months ago for £229 (189 + 40 Hazmat shipping) so just under £30/lb. I'm looking at getting a large order of reloading components from the US as I can get free shipping, if my friend over there can get an export licence 8lb tubs of Varget would work out at £12.25/lb and N140 £15.40/lb

What way does it work in England, does it just get written on your licence the same way ammo does?
John_R
What way does it work in England, does it just get written on your licence the same way ammo does? You don't even have to show your FAC to buy smokeless powders here, nor for primers.
inthedark
I paid £72 for a kilo of vit 140 last Friday.
Glensman
You don't even have to show your FAC to buy smokeless powders here, nor for primers. So anyone can just walk off the street and buy it? :o
garyb
I beg to differ... you need your FAC for primers. Perhaps it's not written in Law, but every / most RFD's I've been into want to see your ticket for primers. Powder... they don't seem to care. I've tried to buy pistol primers before for a friend's hornet - They wouldn't sell them to me without a pistol calibre on my FAC.

John_R
I have only ever bought primers & powder alone once (as opposed to buying lots of other controlled stuff at the same time) and that guy did not ask to see my FAC. I vaguely recall pulling it from my pocket and him saying he didn't need it. I must have looked honest/respectable or something...
Mr_Logic
AFAIK you don't need to look particularly closely, just verify the person has an FAC. If the RFD doesn't do it, then they are either naughty or they know you well enough that they know you have a ticket.
Floating Chamber
Only for metallic primers surely?
