lksopener
Hello Chaps, Just joined not too long ago and have been reading about. Seen a few threads about Chris Green and his decoys and dvds. First off the Dvd's got pigeon shooting volume 1,2 + 3 and i enjoyed the, and found them very informative. Been to the midland gamefair this weekend and i must say i havent seen anything like the quality of his decoys and the finish, it must take him an age painting them all! Bought a few, sure they are expensive but i havent seen anything made as well as these for a long time. Just starting a thread really to see if any one has or has seen the new pigeon shooting secrets revealed, was thinking on buying it. jimmyb79
I bought it at the CLA this year. Not so sure that its packed full of 'secrets' but its a good watch none the less. I've got a couple of his floaters, and as you say, very expensive, but I'm happy with them. I'd probably go for one of the lads on here that make them next time though. proTOM1
His decoys are good but way over priced as for his new dvd well he talks some right poo in it but also points out some good things aswell . You cant beat learning in the field tho
lksopener
Agree with you on learning in the field Tom. I would like to see some of the lads who have made there own Chris green style deeks. For me the cost I think is in the detail on the deeks. I will have to get the new DVD to have a look. tignme
Detail in the deeks, i have a mate who uses 28 yr old full bodied deeks with no paint whatsoever and he still shoots good bags. he is a jammy sod at anything.
Greenhunter
I've been making 'Chris Green style' floaters and landers for a few years. I think I've improved on the idea. I've certainly improved on the price and you can't saw you get what you pay for this time as you get more than you might think. GH
lksopener
you can't saw you get what you pay for this time as you get more than you might think. Care to elaborate on that? I know for example the cost of all the component pieces in Greens floaters but i will put some snaps up of the detail on the birds. I havent seen anyone match that, Liam
Cranfield
Before pigeons get close enough to see the full "lifelike" detail of the decoy, they should be dead. Shape, colour and movement are the main criteria for a good decoy IMO.
motty
I generally like Chris Green's dvds, but on his 'secrets' dvd some of the stuff he says is rubbish and he contradicts himself at times.

I, too know all the costs of producing a floating decoy! If it costs him more than I have to pay he should change his suppliers! As Cranfield says, its the overall shape and movement that counts, everything more than that is just for the punter. The pigeons don't actually care! Ask Mr Green if he uses UV paint! I can't actually prove it works but at least I make the effort! GH

truckboy1
I personally thought his decoying secrets revealed was a platform to sell his decoys as he compares all the other decoys against his, dont get me wrong i have all of his dvd's, 3 of his floaters and five of his hanging deeks and rate them quite highly, but i just dont think he gives enough effort into useing the mechanical tools that are available on the market, i.e magnets, flappers, peckers!! Just my opinion

alros01
i have all of his pigeon shooting dvds and four of his floaters in all of his dvds you never see many pigeons land into his decoys.in the pigeon shooting secrets revealed he uses a magnet machine but it was going round far to fast.i dont think he has ever used the fud decoys
Mightymariner
A mate lent me his DVD, to be honest they are great entertainment, I probably wouldn't recommend them if you want to learn loads about decoying techniques but I think he is honest and there is some good footage. Plus, they are really funny when his son is involved as the commentary totally rips into him and his shooting ability!

His lad is a born comedian, good shot and has taken some very good footage. Its also good to see the next generation so enthusiastic about our sport and learning the skills from the old man. Not enough of that about imho. I think they are very watchable Edited October 7, 2011 by turbo33
