MM
I seem to have lots of grey partridge on one of my shoots, and i do mean lots. It a shoot where im allowed to take what i want. Are greys still a bit scarce? i didnt want to shoot them all, and find they are of low numbers. Any thoughts.
TJ91
We have a very good number of greys this year, an awful lot more than previous years! I take an odd brace now and then.
Chard
I've seen more than usual on Carrington Moss behind where I live. There's always a couple of pairs on there in the Spring, but I put up a covey of eight birds the other day and heard others on different parts of the Moss. Heard one or two Quail in the cornfields too, when they started harvesting.

fenboy
I would guess overall they are still relativly scarce , but no doubt some areas hold more that others ,its really just a decision for you if you take some or not, personally speaking if I had the chance (which I dont) then I would not, some others no doubt would. M.I.A
i have plenty of red legs about but havent seen a single grey. If i did i wouldnt shoot one. I think they need to be left alone in my eyes

M.I.A
i suppose there will be more in certain area's I have every type of wildlife around here but i have never seen a grey, i dont suppose a brace now and then will hurt if you have plenty about. Im sure MR fox will do more damage

Bleeh
A good rule of thumb is only to take greys where you are doing something to help conserve, such as building beetle banks or hoppers.

wildfowler.250
As far as I'm aware they pair up january. So if you are going to shoot a couple do it before then. If you are hammering vermin then I think you could shoot a couple but I don't know how many a "lot" is on your ground.
Dekers
Hardly ever see the Grey round here, its all the redlegs, and not that many of them. I have a few sites with some redlegs on which I have left over the last few years in the hope their numbers may grow. (Loads of Pheasants ) I am happy to totally remove rabbits from any given piece of land but on Game birds, which are commonly limited and don't generally present a great problem for owners, I usually only take a few now and again! Each piece of land and area and landowners is different. ATB!
MM
Leave them be Will be having words with you young man why, u fancy a day out twice i flushed about 20 birds. they didnt evem leave the shoot, just went to the next field. tigger
Nope we leave well alone around here £50 fine if you shoot one on some of the shoots around here very frowned upon we see a few but even if we saw lots we still would not shoot them we like to do our bit and give a little back

webber
Take a couple; enjoy. Then do all that you can to conserve the rest. Preditor control being top of my list as the habitat must be OK or they would not be there now. Then look forward to next season. webber
