reclassification of .22 pistols?

I have the Buckmark pistol and apart from being "nose heavy" it's a nice pistol to shoot, luckily mine has the straight rod at the back not the curved wrist brace so I can easily add some extra weight to balance it properly. The free pistol shown above is very much like my old Feinwerkbau, it's anything but uncomfortable to shoot, they are designed for best possible consistent grip and balance. Def. wouldn't want a 1911 with the barrel extended like the one in the photo, there are some (and Beretta 92s) with false silencers covering the barrel which look better or you could always go for a Taurus or Alpha long barrel revolver in .22/357/44

I'm sure I came upon one while looking for mine but I can't find it now :(

Valmont have the 1911 with the barrel shroud (looks nicer!) http://www.valmontfirearms.co.uk/LBPistols.html

I had a 9mm Berretta 92S, couldn't get on with it at all, 18"+ groups at 25m, 3" with my S&W 29 44mag and nowadays 3" with a Sig P226 9mm when I shoot in the US.

Part of the problem now is that no ranges except section 7 are licenced for .22 pistol. They took it away so even if we got them back ( and I doubt it) you would have the problem of not having anywhere to use it so your application would be refused. The long barrelled jobs are classed as rifles.

140k against 6m or whatever people in the UK. We will always be a minority and when all the sensible people are gone there wont be anyone left who understands shooting as a sport or for Pest controll, eventually we will lose our guns i bet.. but hey, eventually 140k people can move to america..

OR look at it like this the public are quick to forget they have already moved on to hating the next thing

MPs, perverts.

Or are too busy with the latest craze-the media are only interested in the latest thing I often wonder how long it would take people to cotton on to such a repeal should it ever take place.

In fairness 700,000 total firearm holders (thats FAC/SGC combined) only 100,001 of those would have to back this to get it heard.

And considering how many black powder pistols there are, and think that I know people with 3-5 of them all 6 shot I make that 30 shots.

Fact every pistol holder and those of us who hoped to do pistol shooting were shafted but what was IMO a well planned out

event to take pistols off us it was planned many years before Dumblane.

Ive said this before and most on here were too ignorant to see it, that anyone can take a hacksaw to a 10/22 or any firearm,to make it hand held, admitidly not quite a real pistol but hand held and easily concealeable...to this end the dunblane ban of pistols to prevent another dunblane has failed.........so lets at least see .22 pistols back.......

The earlier post of a 92f lbp would not be legal,as its a semi auto and only .22 semi auto us allowed. the lbp are basiclly a rifle, not in the spirit of the law, but legal none the less....

And as for whoever said they are toys,i invite u to the next bisley graw event, lets see how you fair there, perhaps people reflectively veiw a shot gun as a toy??? Hardly a precision instrument???

Food for thought fellow forum members.....

Ive got a 22lr semi auto pistol long barrel. And although its not a proper pistol its the nearest thing i will get close to using. Its lots of fun to use and i went through 400 rounds in no time.

As for getting pistols back im all for it but lets face it its not going to happen they would be to afraid to give them back in case some thing did happen again.

Im sure most people would be happy even if we were allowed 22lr pistols only without the long barrel and that ****ty rod.

So your argument against the ban is that as it's possible to cut down a rifle they might as well reinstate handgun ownership?

Not particularly well thought out is it? :/

Youve got it,pistol ownership was banned to prevent another dunblane, now we had a cumbria?? And the pistol ban did not stop that.

Firearms are still in private citizen ownership,we are still trusted with what we have, and what we have could be butcherd up to become handheld at any moment, so why not reverse the pistol ban??

Perfectly simple.

Unless u advocate more and more restrictions??

There is also the most tried and tested black market Granted you have no real idea what you are getting

But Lets assume you get a genuine handgun of any calibre off the underground

you could do more harm than those other 3 ever did.

You, me, Tom, **** and harry could get ANY firearm we wanted illegally

However I personally believe that Dumblane was a set-up why else would they put a 100 year lock down

on the whole thing, the others haven't.

And please correct me if I am wrong here but last time I checked it is Illegal for the "system" to punish someone for someone else's crime hence why people get sued, sacked etc if someone is wrongly arrested/jailed etc.

Surely every law abiding licensed firearms holder is subject to the same injustice

Some times I really wish I had a few million would consider suing.

Are you for real? That's one of the most deeply offensive things I've ever read on here. Not only offensive to the families of bereaved children but also a stain on decent shooters, that one of our own could even suggest such a vile thing.

The antis would just love to read that. Trust me, and I have a personal insight into this, Dunblane was very, very real and those kids were shot by a sad pathetic social inadequate, if it was a "set up" who do you think shot primary school kids? Un ******* believable

Well I'll tell you what, you put together an e-petition to 'call me Dave' using your well thought out reasoning for overturning the ban and I'll gladly sign it. :good:

Thats a link to the site, once youve read it you may still be offended by the earlier posts, you may draw your own conclusions.

The book whilst the author does over anylise some points, does dig up some disturbing and vile facts about the massacre of innocent kids and their teacher. the guy was a known peodofile, and had friends in high places that visited his "boys camps".....also lots and lots of inconsistencies in all the details involveing the shootings themselves, how many guns did he have, why did his belly bullet wound go unreported, why did he lie on the floor flat head on ground on his back hold the gun at an angle and shhot himself through the head ??with 2 bullet holes under his skull when they quickly removed the body and burned it sharpish....

Now just becase its a book dont make everything in it true, but if u do read it you will become a little suspicious of the so called cover up and the wall that all goverment depts put up to stip her book ensued.....my self im still open minded, things iveheard and seen over the years nothing would suprise me......

I really don't know where to start with that. I can't believe how sad and angry that makes me. I was a warrant officer in an Army EOD unit on the day. I was tasked to the school because there was a fear that Hamilton had booby trapped his car or a range bag full of ammo he had dropped in the gym. Whilst this turned out to be unfounded, I still had to go through the motions. I also at the request of the police unloaded Hamiltons pistols because in the confusion no one else had thought to do so. I subsequently gave evidence at Lord Cullen's enquiry. What I saw in that gym that day will stay with me forever. At the time I had kids the same age in a similar village primary school a few miles away. Because I "was in my own sad little bubble" as you so eloquently put it, I hugged my kids tightly that night and cried more than ever, before or since.

I should add that I was a very active pistol shooter at the time.

So you see I didn't get my opinions from watching TV. So I've no need to read any ridiculous conspiracy theories which from the ridiculous excerpts you've quoted would make me even more angy than your thoughtless offensive post has.

So "Running Man" thank you for your human compassion and awakening some very unpleasant memories I'm just off back into my own sad little bubble.
