bertie
From reading round a few forums i've noticed a lot of annomosity towards this site from peoples versions of swearing. Now i don't condone this at all but what have we got away with previously? Maybe b******d or fec, i know not so why not give me a few ideas, as i'd hate to be banned for saying something wrong. Mungler
As an expert on this I can confirm that fek, f11ck, ******* etc are all banned. Along with gosh, crumbs, jeepers, crikey and COLINSRI. Apparently, it's the swearing that gives shooting a bad name and the antis something to write to their MP's about. So, keep it clean or the admin will **** you right up big time. Cranfield
Its quite simple really, pinned at the top of this section is a Thread by Teal (Site Owner) entitled "Jokes, Derailments, Swearing....a Notice". The problems only occur when nobody reads it. This is the extract specifically referring to swearing. "We're implementing a new policy of no foul language. Please don't believe that changing to **** or **** or sh£te, is acceptable either. Let's just lose the bad language altogether. The filter is in place for a reason, if you really must, just post *****'s, and everyone can then insert their own words. " If you wish to represent a word that could possibly classified as "foul language", or offensive, then just use *******. Don't use *******g, or b*****ks, or anything similar. The reason for this policy is due to the number of complaints received from members and the probability that we have lost at least two prospective Sponsors because of it. the pelt man
SWEARING WHAT A LOAD OF B******* Why do we make an issue out of words. Just because some people find some words offend them, why cant we use them. The fact that an issue is made out of these words makes them seem worse than they are. Other words are now taking the place of the words we are not ment to use because we can get away with it. If we just ignore words that people use to exspress themselfs they may be used less or at least seem less offending. Also this discriminates against the lower classes after all you dont here about the words like CAD & BOUNDER & OTHERS being taboo. Expessionism words of upper class that are used as a mirror usage of lower class expressionism. IMHO PELT MAN
Lord Geordie
The way I see it is WE have been allowed to use a site set up by the MAN. He didn't HAVE to let us use it OR let us continue to use it if he see's fit. All he asks in return is a little favour asking us to refrain from using foul language which is not impossible is it? I know i have fallen foul of this in the past and got a warning and when i read it it made PERFECT sense. Lets not forget there ARE kids frequent this forum also and as such we should set an example for them NOT ONLY as Adults but WE are the people these kids look UP TO and turn to for help and advise. What kind of embassadors would we be for our Sport if after they read our posts they turn into foul mouthed cretins who shoot at anything that moves? It's a simple request and a pittance to pay considering how much information you can gather in return and hopefully infuture your influence may also help a relative newbie learn enough to point OTHERS in the right direction too. LG LG you cannot use the fact that young kids are reading the threads most of them could teach you a thing or 2 about bad language you just have to listen to them when they are in the streets with there mates. I agree bad language should be cut out but nobody seem to bother when its involved in a joke. Some of then are close to the knuckle and should be checked as well even thought i dont give a toss what language is used i can always go to another thread no one makes you read it. flytie
Peltman, have you never been racing and heard the upper classes discoursing. The great racehorse trainer nevil crump even made the queen mum blush on more than one occassion (his daughter told me). I do not think swearing is a class issue. As for "spas" i'm not bothered and as a "crip" myself I think I have a right not to indulge in politcal correctness if I so choose! I have been and will be again, I am sure, guilty of more than the odd expletive, but only when provoked. Ft

I hate having to be a Conformist instead of Myself. You are most prob right about it not being a class issue. I just wish to know how & who decided that these words were "foul". BTMS
I think Pavman hit the nail on the head. Any body can swear, but in mixed company and with ankle biters about I certainly would not. Down the pub or having a few beers with mates then fine. Brian

Beleive me when i say there are a lot more kids STILL raised with good moral values than the ones who are not. My son has never sworn though i DO tend to let slip myself when around him which i know i should really curb. My previous post is NOT a durogitory remark to anyone i was merely stating that the request to refrain from swearing on the forum is a simple enough request to acheive. As you say some jokes have swearing in their content and can cut a little close to the bone but having a very keen liking for Roy Brown then i can live with that. If you check out some of my posts from the past I have also resorted to inappropriate use of the English Language on occasion but when i read sponsorship for this site has been lost (possible even because of MY use of said words) then i have to rethink and make steps to make sure in future i refrain from using such words again. Without sponsorship this site may well fold and where would we all be then? No ammount of inappropriate language is worth losing this site for and as such i reitterate that the request of no further bad language IS acheivable and for the good of the site i think should be adhered to. JMHO Oh and as someone has already said!! Swearing when with mates is fine when down the pub etc. And one last thing Kids and Swearing!!!!!! Kids are impressionable and HAVE to learn their language from somewhere and the MAIN part is learned from ADULT conversation. So kids teaching Adults? I don't think so. It's the other way round the kids only SHOCK the adults when the Adults realise they have overheard them and start utalising the new words in their vocabulary LG
