bunny_blaster
Dont bother with hawke scopes mate there ****. You will get a Bushnell Elite for that money which will beat most scopes in that price range Cheers Ben

12borejimbo
Ive had an MTC viper, on an HMR too, sold the rifle with the scope on, but I would buy another scope, good glass and quality for the money, bought mine brand new for £229 and it comes with everything to get you going, mount, flip ups, sidewheel, battery ect. Beardo
Just sold my nikon monarch for that price, I'd keep an eye out for a decent second hand scope

Gimlet
Why do you want side focus and high mag on an HMR? Each to their own of course, but you can get better glass for you money without them, especially second hand, and get all the scope you'll need. bullet boy
MTC Optisan Viper (side-wheel focus) is a lovely scope with nice glass too!My dad has the 4-16x50 Viper on his .17HMR and it is superb.A great value for money scope! V8 90
I had an MTC Viper on my Hmr & had lots of problems with if "fogging" out when the sun was in the wrong position & so wouldn't recommend them. I now have a Hawke Sidewinder 6-24X56 & think it's very very good I did have a Hawke Eclipse 3-12X56 on it - (Top Scope) - for while but found I was tending to rush my shots as it was just point & shoot, if you get me. Now I have the Sidewinder on it I do find I take my time & my kill rate is back up to 99% - Rabbit & 100% - Fox HTH V8
scotland rifles
i would rather have a bog roll on my rifle than a MTC, the clicks are clap, the coating is clap, the reticules are not that good either i had one when they came out Via that bloke on the bbs and never again, look out for a nice Bushnell (i used to hate them) but since i have had the elite 6500 4.5/30x50 on my 308 it has changed my mind, i also had a dawn til dusk 6/18x50 on mt 20 tac for 2 years also a nice scope, but i have to say the elite 6500 is the dog kahunas for the money, i have managed to put 5 shots in the same hole-ish at 110 yards with my 308 and nothing more than a rear bag and the small Harris bi-pod on the front, and all done from the front of my jeep. just keep your money in your pocket ready to go, and scour the sites on the look out for the scope that you really fancy bob. Raja Clavata
bushnell minimum, I originally bought a high mag hawke for my hmr and had real trouble focussing with it on quick shots and found it next to useless when lamping. I have since had a fixed mag 8x56 S&B and now 8x50 Swaro on it and would not sacrifice the higher mag for the far superior focus and early acquisition of the target. My brother just bought a hmr setup with a hawke on it and a quick zeroing session convinced him its fit for nothing.
yankeedoodlepigeon
I had a lot of money to spend on a scope and my friend had a £1600 scope on his that he swore by. I went out many times with him to see if it was worth the extra cash. Ended up buying a second hand sidewinder while I thought about it and have no complaints with it. My friend is even on about getting one as he was surprised to see how good it was and read a write up on them in a magazine saying how good they are. This is the one with the Hawke badge around the turret not the writing as they have upgraded glass. I can't really tell the difference between the two, some might argue that you would get 15 minutes of extra hunting at dusk or dawn. I either shoot day or night (with lamp) at the moment so would not bother me. I can get on my target with no problems at all....quickly too. Some guys at the range are putting all shots into the bull at 600yds with a £60 from new chinese scope so they are no more accurate than an expensive one as far as I would be bothered to notice. Get one of the scopes like I did while you are thinking about it or waiting for one to come up you can always sell it for the same money. Only my opinion but I found this out for myself and I'm happy with it so I guess thats all that matters. You could do the same you have nothing to lose.
