Ireland's Finest!
Well lads, Picked up my first ever centerfire rifle today. I bought my first ever rifle about a year ago, it was a single shot HMR, accurate wee thing but has its obvious drawbacks. I went on the hunt for a .223 and decided on a CZ 527. I was drawen to laminated stock initially which led me to researching the rifle even more and I decided it would fit the bill nicely. Seen one on the shelf in the local RFD, got it for a decent price(eventually) So I applied for the licence on the 'like for like' basis at the start of the November and the licence arrived last monday, so went today and picked up the rifle. I also picked up a Kahles HEILA CSX 3-12X56 scope. Which I'm delighted about, brilliant glass on it and got a great deal on it so delighted. I'm bringing the rifle to get threaded on Saturday, so once thats done I'll be able to christen her. Can't wait to get out with her now! Rifle: CZ 527 Varmint Laminated Stock Scope: Kahles HEILA CSX 3-12X56 IR Harris bi-pod(13.5-27)

SAVAGE HMR
Nice looking rifle mate. I just picked up a CZ 527 .223 Varmint with Walnut stock. Mine isn't parkerised like yours though, it's blued. I havent had the money to buy a mod yet so I've only put 16 very loud rounds through it to get it zero'd. You'll have a lot of fun with it! I'm getting it threaded on Saturday so hope to get out on Sat night with with her. What rounds you planning on putting through it? I was thinking of the American eagle (FMJ) to get her zeroed as there cheap as chips then get the Hornady 55gr for the red fellas.

You will be wasting your time zeroing with the fmj rounds if you are going to be using other rounds for fox you might aswell zero with the Hornady and be done. Nice rifle by the way. Dunkield
Or if you wanted to, you could zero with AE hollow points and them on foxes as well.

Well they say great minds think alike. I bought 40 American Eagle to run the barrel in a bit and get my shots on paper. They were getting groups from 1" - 3" at 100 yards which is what I was expecting but I've only put 16 rounds through it. It's been a bit windy to do any more fine tuning. I'm planning on stating to reload so with any luck I'll find a mix that works great on Charlie. I wasn't planning on running anything heavier than 55 grains and there seems to be loads of info out there for .223 foxing rounds. There is quite a gap in price between the American Eagle .223 at £12.00 per 20 rounds and the Winchester at £23.00 per 20 rounds. I don't think my local R.F.D. has Hornady ammunition but I might have to hassle him about getting some different brands in stock.
