EdSolomons
If it's too complicated to catch your empties/stop them firing out with your hand then I'm amazed you have the coordination to hit anything. You don't have to pick them up off the floor, your just idle. Edited December 18, 2011 by EdSolomons

CZ550Kevlar
I suggest the line is already fairly clear - use the bins that are put out for you to use. Lazy ****. Do you use the bins to put your plastic wads in?? or put your lead shot in?
paulos
Do you use the bins to put your plastic wads in?? or put your lead shot in? My wads don't land on the footpath/in the cage/around the cage, where they are unsightly and in the way of other shooters. I ******* hate having to step on empty shells in the cage that ignorant, ham-fisted ****** couldn't be bothered to catch and put in the bin. As for the lead - consider it my treat. It's far more valuable to the ground if and when they choose to scrape it out and weigh it in.
Azzurri
I used to work at a Trap Ground in the late 70's,early 80's,there were no bins for the empties at the end of a long day working manual traps we used to have to get sweeping brushes and shovels out to tidy the layouts up I can still remember the mess so i always catch my empties and put them in the bin :good: Anyone who doesn't is just a ****in' ****** in my book with a complete disrespect for their fellow shooters Azzurri. Thunderbird
how can somone with a semi ''catch'' the empties? I've 'caught' a few in the side of the head standing next to someone with one! But I didn't mind.
silver pigeon 3
I've 'caught' a few in the side of the head standing next to someone with one! But I didn't mind. Not a lot in there to damage anyway Nothing gets me more pi!!ed of than stepping into the cage and finding empty shells under my feet, it is almost as bad as standing there waiting and watching someone else hopping around the cage to avoid standing on them!! landyboy
i witnessed today a couple of shooters even throw them that hard into the bins when they missed that they bounced out on to the grass Edited December 18, 2011 by landyboy
P~MX
I followed a ballbag one day at a shoot who would only eject his empties over his head after 2 stands I pulled him aside and told him if he did put his empties in the bin I'd put him in it ! he stopped after that - I wasn't gonna have my good gun damaged by empties pingin of it :o
paulos
Throw them at the back of their head while they're shooting. That'll learn 'em
Chard
I think everybody should go out and buy some snap caps. Then they could spend hours practising ejecting them into the bin
chris t
One thing I've never understood, is people who go pigeon and pheasant shooting and say/do pick up their empties, but use plastic wad cartridges. I suppose they are removing half their mess.....

Chazzmeister
One shoot I've been to twice now, not only does everyone pick up their own empties but actively help pick up and bin all empties then when the shootings all done, everyone walks around picking up the unbroken clays and even helps collect up the traps/machines (what ever you call 'em) and load them on the trailer. But I suspect that's how he lays on such good value & popular shoots Well said young man! I spent best part of an hour today picking up empties off 12 stands after everyone had enjoyed a cracking day's sport. I wasn't alone and the faithful few were, as usual, helping out. We did it gladly as always because we enjoy and appreciate the excellent shooting (and we wanted to help a certain person collect his Nigerian lager before it warmed too much in the steamy pub) However it wouldn't have been necessary if everyone had the same outlook as the PW guys and gals who were on the same ground only the week before No need for name checks but I think you'd like to know that today the exemplary and considerate attitude you all showed a week ago was mentioned more than once! Great ambassadors for PW and our sport in general :good:

huffhuff
Throw them in the bin. Although shooting yesterday, I didn't pick one up. Only realised half way round. Silly semi But in general, if they can be picked up safely and without causing a delay to the next gun or squad, I'd pick them up.
Drayman
For O/U and S/S there's no reason to let the cases go anywhere except in to your hand as you eject and then in to the bin. It's just common courtesy to others. At the two grounds we shoot regularly everyone puts their carts straight in the bin and those that don't are "encouraged" to pick up their mess. Mot semi users pick up their cases but a number didn't. So a sign went up along the lines of "tidy up or don't bring your semi". As a result the grounds are tidier and I'm sure there are fewer semi's being used.
