unapalomablanca
I spoke to a gamekeeper and he reckons they are ******** and that the 'bang' is very much audible. So whats the point?. Surely a silenced shotgun should be silent. Expert advice and info appreciated please!
Catweazle
They are nowhere near "silent", but a lot quieter than a normal shotgun.
Sharpshooter.123
There not supposed to be silent, only designed to muffle the noise, they are quite quiet tho. Standing right next to it you probably won't hear much difference but you stroll 25-30 yards away from the person shooting and you will notice a considerable difference
sitsinhedges
They're moderated not silenced and I wouldn't be without mine because it means I can shoot in a lot of places where a normal gun would cause too much disturbance. Tell the gamekeeper he's talking bowlocks

southeastpete
i have a 'moderated' 410, and have shot rabbits 20 feet from each other not knowing what was going on. You try that unmoderated...

The birds live there and service the surrounding fields and come and go all day. I have shot there many times but not recently. The field is near houses and although its ok to shoot i just feel anxious the whole time and it spoils it. Ive stopped going but wondered if i buy a hushpower will the noise be as bad or will people not really notice. Matt Gould
my hushpower means i can shoot closer to houses with out anoying em with noise, means i can shoot later at night, means i dont have to weare ear defenders and it scares your quarry less, like one of the above poster said its moderated which means its quieter than a standard shotgun. it does not say silentpower because if it did make alot of noise you would have a right to be p***ed off great guns well worth buying, although im not a fan of the subsonic carts for em i might add that The reason i ask is because ive got this brilliant field with tremendous flightlines and roosting. Sharpshooter.123
Iv shot with a mate in a field with a 20bore o/u hushpower and iv really struggled to hear him taking any shots, yes built up areas they really are a great bit of kit, and as above a group of rabbits can be ambushed and not hear a thing
Matt Gould
hushpowers are evern better in the open becasue there is no building or woods for the noise to eco off, its just like whiping kind of sound loverly

Mangled99
I've got the 20g over and under, I use it on a farm that is not too far from houses and when I have mates shooting in other fields nearby they can hardly hear me. Carts are expensive though as you have to use subsonic carts, apart from the expense and looking like a drainpipe I think its a great piece of kit and I doubt I will ever sell it. Matt Gould
What about 12 bore just a normal pigeon cart would do, not a overly pokey one, just a standard 2.5" 30 gram cart would do in firbe wad though Matt
Matt Gould
I would buy an Investarm O/U 20g or a Pedretti single barrel 12gauge i realy love the investarm hushpower !!!!!!! but on the other hand i carnt fault my mossy noise wise and everything, people say the sighting is a bit of a bitch on the mossy but i am yet to find it Edited December 19, 2011 by Matt Gould
retromlc
i like my 20b o/u,i think it's very quiet using subs and found no problems knocking pigeons at 35 yrd,I did use a 30grm no3 shot non-sub the other day and it was very loud,so i would think a normal 20b cart would defeat the point,BUT I haven't actually tried it apart from the time i mentioned.I think the 20b O/U is worth the extra money.i doubt I would sell it as it's a good choice, even when there are lots of pigeons about and no wind, they don't spook much at all from the noise. If i fired my normal 12b i would have to pack up and go home

Greenhunter
i thought the factory loaded subs in 20g were 30gram of 5 shot ? That is what I use as (at the time) it was all there was on the market as far as I could tell. Mines the Investarm O/U and it is very quiet with subsonics.
