BSA R-10, AA S410 or Weirauch HW 100?

I'm looking for opinions from people who have used any of the guns in the title or preferably all!

It's going to be in .177, will be used primarily for hunting rabbit, pigeon and rats but may do the odd bit of HFT.

I have owned an S400 and a S510 but had to sell, great guns, really accurate but it must be a multishot this time.

Thoughts and opinions please.

Hi,i have a s410.22 carbine and i cannot falt it.I did have a FX2000,,no regrets,the FX2000 was and is a nice gun,but i needed something a bit lighter.

Steve has a s410.22 and loves it,the S410 replaced a springer.

Another mate has a R10.22 mk2 and is having ongoing problems with the small seal on the pellet probe, and the mag seal, these are still ongoing.

Another friend has a FX2000.22,this replaced a wh100.22and he is very pleased with the FX2000 and happy that he made the right choice.

Next,is another Fx2000.22 and he loves it,the FX2000 replaced a webley omega .22,no regrets.

The last on is a S410.22 and he loves it,the S410 replaced a Brocock light hunter.22.The issues with the Brocock was low shot count per charge.

If I was to move away from my MFR Mk11 Rapid 17 (not on your list?) which incidently i wouldn't.

I would go for HW every day of the week, the BSA if blueprinted IMO is a good bit of kit and the AA410 does everything it says on the tin a good solid rifle but the HW for me shades it.

To add to the mix consider the Daystate Air Ranger if your pockets are deep.

Can't fault my S410 carbine (.22) Only thing wrong with it is the safety (not a malfunction, but i just find its not in the best place) Other than that every box is ticked.. Mine is a thumbhole stock and i think i would prefer a standard one but thats just being fussy! Havnt ever tried the other two but they are highly rated by many.. If i were to buy a new one i might go for the r-10 but then again i wouldnt want to take it out because i wouldnt want to mark that beutifull stock!

Never held or shot aa410 but heard any bad reports

As for the hw100 i had the ks in 22 a great gun and very accurate but shot count only 60 odd

Then started to do abit more target shooting so was looking for more shots per fill

so went for the r10 and got it shortend and J.Bd taking the price to a tad more than a new hw100

this gun is deadly accurate and a dream to handle.

You have shot before with the s400 so already know what you are getting if you buy the s410 being the only difference is that its multishot, I shoot with a s400 with the rowan eng kit fitted.ALL are good guns but the r10 still appears to have faults even in mk2 guise, I would have liked the hw100 but simply can't afford one so stuck with the s400 and bought the multishot kit. I have however held the hw100 although not the best looking gun if you can afford it you may as well buy it as seems you can't go wrong with it. Easy cocking and comes with two 14 shot mags inc silencer excellent build quality. BUT don't forget its your money!

I started with S300 in .177 wicked rifle. Moved on to S410 Carbine .177 even better.

I now use this for hunting and HFT.

I changed to adjustable butt pad, low height rimfire scope mounts and it fits and works a treat.

Very reliable and easy to handle.

I have not handled the other rifles mentioned but at the moment I have no need to.

S410 all the way

My all time favourite rifle is my old S300, its painted green and black, covered in camo and insulation tape, but is 100% perfect at what its made for: shooting vermin! :good:

Fitted with a Logun carbon fibre silencer and MTC Mamba scope, plus a Rowan 6 shot mag, its perfect for me as I shoot Lefty so the ambi stock fits well.....If the newer 400 and 500 series perform like this has, and for just as long, then I cannot see anything beating them!

I had the HW100 and an S400 at the same time, and in the end I sold the HW100. I couldnt fault it. Well built, very accurate, but darn heavy. I do a lot of walking on my shoot, so the s400 with a multishot adapter became my choice. I'd love to change it to an S410, maybe one day when I have more money... I'm also tempted by the R10 Mk2, but I also want reliabilty.

Ive previously owned two of the above but my current rifles are keepers and are non of the above. I use a sub 12ft lb multi shot Ultra mainly for ratting and my fac mk1 rapid/22lr for just about everything else. I did like my old s410k but as my guns are tools for the job and not 'show pieces' they get dirty/wet so found the s410k badly let down by the poor blueing which was very thin and ended up spotted with rust at the first sign of any dampness. I have to add this was an old pre-anti tamper model so i dont know if later models have better blueing?

I also owned an early hw100 and loved the simple magazines and fast cocking of this rifle but it leaked from the cylinder which seemed to be a problem with the early models?

I love my mk1 fac rapid it gets dirty/scratched on my shoots and still keeps going. Itsalso so simple to service cheaply without sending it away. It also has bags of power at 30ft lb's although can be turned up to 38ft lb if needed. If i could only own a sub 12ft lb rifle it would be a mk1 rapid.

I have an HW100 KT, the muts as far as I am concerned, it is superb, quiet as hell, superbly engineered, form over function design, but still beautiful. It is a wonderful gun, accurate as heck, pellet on pellet, I use Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums, works well and is a pellet that hits hard. If you look in hunting photos you will see a photo of Tiger and one of her latest victims (when I shot the second it was too late to get a photo on the phone)!

Funnily enough I've just picked up a Bowkett tuned Ultra, seems a nice piece of kit and with a synthetic stock it's SO light! Perfect hunting gun. I'm now looking at a HFT gun and as such I may well get a HW100, no need to lug it very far and they are so accurate and reliable. The R10 is a great gun but does seem to need a bit of Bowkett attention to get the best out of it.

I owned an Air Arms S400, great gun but it was sold on to help fund an multishot for hunting It was a good gun but I felt it was compromised in the field. I haven't used the Ultra in anger in the field but suspect it will be very adequate, in which case a dedicated HFT gun is called for. I can't afford a Steyr et al so a Weirauch sounds like a good choice and is renowned for exceptional accuracy.
