afternoon lads im looking for a new air rifle for around £250. i currently have a HW35K in .22 and really carnt get on with it, no idea why i just carnt get a good group no matter what pellets, with a scope or open sights. yea i know what your thinking its probably more my fault not the rifles but i can shoot fine with other air rifles and rim fires.

so what would be best new or 2nd hand for a round £250? i had an old BSA as a child and loved it. it will be used mostly for squirrels and pigeons where noise is an issue and the occasional shoot at a local range.

The rifle is all but brand new, never been used in the field and fired just a handful of pellets (circa 20), the scope is an old Hawke Nite Eye but perfectly good on this!

PM if interested!

Cracking guns those^^

I had one for about a year (only changed it because funds allowed me to upgrade to a pcp) but really good reliable gun I had mine in .22 and a chest shot on a squizz out to 30 yards and it would be down without so much as a twitch :good:

My take on springers is that the more weight they have the better. I've had a fair few air rifles going right back to my early teens and I've never been able to get the best results from light guns. I've had a Lightning and a Supersport along with a few others and none have ever shot as well as my Superstar, HW80 etc which have a good 2lbs or more on the little guns.

My advice - go for a used HW80 or 97, TX200 etc. They will shoot better for any given skill level than a lighter rifle.

Very pleased with the HW99S . Very accurate and power at full 12ft lbs , for £208 new . No frills or fancy chequering ,just practical and well built for rough shooting . Lovely recoil too , feels like you are shooting a rifle . Am sure all Weirauchs are good if this is the cheaper end of the range .
