Mungler
Okay, I have the latest copy of Sporting Shooter and there is an article about decoying crows with a glitterball. Also, having read the article I would assume that John Deacon is "Deako" from these forums and that his business is ***********. Now without wishing to put 2 and 2 together to get 5, is Deako / John Deacon the chap who is colloquially referred to as "the magician"? None of this has ever been properly explained on these forums because there appears to be some sort of feud between the site sponsors and the individuals named above and so any sniff of an answer is removed from the boards pretty quick. Anyhows, back to matters in hand, does the glitterball work on it's own? I like the idea of leaving all my decoying paraphernalia at home and rocking out armed with a glitterball (and of course my gun). Hell, I may even buy some cammo flares to properly get it on baby…
MC
Probably the same guy who is selling these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIRROR-BALL-20cm-MOT...1QQcmdZViewItem In the next months issue they will be showing the new decoying item, only poundland haven't stocked it yet so they can't rush out and buy them all at a pound each and sell them on *BAY for a tenner Only joking and I don't really mean it. I don't see why the mirror ball won't work, aren't magpies and crows attracted by shiny things/reflections Cheers Martin
Deako
...No mate, the 'magician' is Paul Hart (so called because as soon as his company is mentioned in a post, it disappears!! ) The 'other' company was set up some years ago by myself and others. The 'disco ball' was something I actually played around with about 18 months ago, but we decided not to market it as we knew people would die laughing!! However, it DOES work very well indeed, the crows go just mental when they see it and take no notice of the shooter at all. Sometimes it pays to try crazy ideas and when people laugh, I just smile and carry on piling up the crows!

tosspot
wasn't the spinning mirrors mostly used for catching skylarks made illegal years ago if so what is the legality of a mirror ball? i seem to remember pigeon magnets on their introduction questioned on the same grounds
Deako
100% LEGAL for vermin, ie crow, magpies, etc (soon to be tested on early morning foxes!) HOWEVER, do not use them for wildfowl or you could get into trouble.

Highlander
mmmm legal illegal? My understanding is that it is illegal to use 'any mirror or dazzling device' other than for controlling feral pigeons.
