docholiday
Saw this fella for the first time down at Christchurch, managed a few shots before he flew off, fantastic looking bird, never realized the diversity of birds we have in this country till i started this photography malarky, and this one was on my doorstep. Its population crashed in the 1960s, since when it has gradually recovered, increasing in both numbers and range, I think its numbers were down to just a few breeding pairs, even though still not common its good to see them making a come back, hopefully this mild winter will help them Edited January 15, 2012 by docholiday

Kes
I've only ever seen these birds in books and those pics were poor compared to yours Doc. I'd send the sighting and copies to the RSPB. Obvious talent.
