gixer1
I'm baffled as I have used mine hundreds of times with no problem...drop the cord through, stand on the metal tip and pull the barrels up, repeat and shiney clean barrels... Can't see why they would break unless it's a fake? Regard, Gixer
oilyrag
It's reading stories like these that make my leather washer twitch everytime I use mine. The only time I have come close to putting any kind of real strain on mine was when I accidentally managed to get it caught on an ejector as I pulled it through. HDAV
I have one ( bought from a shop as cheap as knockoffbay.... )Never had an issue, works really well have had you really put some pressure on the thing to get it through, washed it several times great bit of kit. I would contact hoppes as if it is a fake they will want to know, if it isn't they will also want to know...

Chris Bb
you cant beat the old rod and brush. In a moment of laziness I used a Boresnake for the first time the other day. Pulled it through each barrel twice, looked up the barrels and they appeared to be spotless. "Great" I thought, then I put the mop through with a little oil on it. It came out black! I'll use it again after a shoot if it's only going to be a day or so until the next outing, otherwise it's back to rods, brushes & 4x2 cloth patches. I've also tried Napier's "Ultraclean" jag and patch system.
Canis
I use a boresnake for a preclean if the gun has done a lot of carts or if i'm short on 4x2 or patches Tried the ultraclean system asnd consider it a waste of time!.. most of the time my barrel cleaner of choice is squares of "jaycloth on a roll" that are lying around the clubhouse of my usual shoot, failing that kitchen roll The most useless piece of gun cleaning equipment is undoubtedly the standard wound phosphor bronze brushes - the payne galway type do such a better job. 0145wirbelwind
I would rather die than go shopping with the wife so i share your pain.. Just push it out with your cleaning rod. It will be job dun and NO nasty shopping trip
Shadowchaser
That's what I intend to do with my bore snake; use it after a shoot for a quick clean if I won't get the chance to do a proper clean when I get home. I think that's the general idea behind them anyway. They are not supposed to be a replacement for rods, brushes etc.

al4x
mine gets used all the time, its that or not bother cleaning it and wait for the next cartridge to do the job Fundamentally if its a hookey one then I can see the problem but got a few of the hoppes ones here now and they just work. Shotgun looks sparkly clean to my eyes for a single pull through. Yes it may not do quite a perfect job but it gets the majority out and thats all I worry about
Beardo
The One I had an issue with wasn't a real hoppes one, my 4 real hoppes have never caused any issues
