Picked up DB at 08.00 Friday and we set out about thirty miles due to a phone call from one of DB'S mates who had seen some birds feeding on Rape. This farm we normally shoot in the summer on the wheat, in the winter it is normally pigeon free. As we drove into the farm yard another 4X4 was parked it was another shooter who had seen the birds. As there were a number of fields we gave him first pick. We then went for a bacon sandwich and came back to watch the effect they were having on the birds. There shots were pushing the birds down the side of a hill so we decided to set up on the Rape at the bottom they ended the day with thirty eight and we had eighty two. On the way home we had a phone call from a farmer who informed us that he had put off three hundred birds off his rape this afternoon. We said that we would be there first light.

Picked DB up at 06.30 and we drove out to the farm and set up, after one and a half hours six birds had come in. we then met the nice lady with the dog who informed us that a man had stood in the trees yesterday and shot loads of cartridges. We went down to the trees and picked up at least a hundred plus empty shells, so we packed up. We drove round in a large circle to try and find a flightline and found another Rape field on the same farm which was well covered, we set up and ended the day one hundred and thirty one.

Today, Monday collected DB at 08.00 drove out to a rape field that we had not been to for some time to give it a go, we arrived with about eighty birds in the trees none joining so we set up. One hour latter we were packing up after no birds returned. Drove around for about twenty minutes to another Rape field this had birds feeding but none joining we set up and the same happened none returned . We ended the day setting up on the Rape next to a thick wood which we think they had roosted in before, Then it rained but we were dry in the edge of the wood and shot till dark ending the day with seventy seven birds. I tried to take a picture in my garage ( the same as Bunny Blaster) but it was a bit cramped.

I think there are some lessons to be learned from your adventure. The first being a show of class by letting the other chap have first pick--them some real savvy by watching how their shooting influenced the birds. Another thing I picked up is to be open to changing as conditions change. Very well done PC and thank you for the education.
