I woke up this morning to find it ******* down with rain which i was annoyed about but it gave me a chance to sort the last load of pigeons out and get some more cartridges. Come 10.30 it had stopped but the clouds still looked heavy. After a last minute decision i packed the gear in to the landy and headed out for my usual drive around to find some birds. I found some on a patch of ground that i dont have permission on so left them be. I carried on and bumped into one of the farmers i shoot for and he said there had been a few on a field of rape not to far from here so i went over to have a look. I arrived to find 50 odd birds sitting in the trees so i got loaded up and walked to my choson spot. I didnt have the magnet with me today as my dad had pinched the battries for his golf trolley so i just had the flapper. I soon got set up and by this time it was 12.45 so didnt really expect too much. The wind was strong and the birds soon started to come in. I had a good flow of birds untill 16.30 and then it went quiet. I called it a day at 17.00 with a total of 85 pigeon, a crow and a magpie for 109 shots.

I was also using some new Lyalvale carts in 29gr 6's today. They are 2" and cycled flawlessly in my Beretta 301 auto. They killed very well out to 50 yards and come in cheaper than my usual Eley Blues 28gr 7's by 50p. BARGAIN!!!

Cheers

Ben

if not a bit out of the ordinary. have use 31g of 6's 28/30/32 etc but 29 is an odd one!!

i have never found a pigeon/game load that my 712 wont cycle....even 24gr steel works! :good:

They are called Lyalvale pigeon special. Apparently the 29gr is a new "fad" that the cartridge companies are doing. As for the legnth i can only assume its to keep the cost down along with the gram less of shot. I didnt realise they where 2" untill i got to the field and got some out the box, i thought i was going to have some trouble with them but they cycled perfectly. They shoot very smoothly and killed well out to a good distance. They come out at 43 quid a slab which i think is good for a pigeon load.
