wildfowler.250
Interested to hear your views on this. I am considering shooting crows tomorrow morning 5.30ish-8.30. The only house that is near is 300 yards away,(RSPB chap but never any trouble). Would you be happy to shoot at 5.30/6am? Or would you wait until a more 'sociable' time of say 8 o'clock? The house is far enough away and out of sight, just don't want any hassle/wake him up at stupid o'clock. But then I'm perfectly legal in what I'm doing, (but that's not a very considerate approach ). 300 yards far enough to shoot early AM? wildfowler.250
ps I'm refering purely to noise levels rather than safety
kyska
I shoot early on pigeon, but I shoot in a very rural farming village, its kind of expected I think. Also, I'm not sure that at 300 yards, in a house it'd be that disturbing...not sure.
mad1
Could you not ask him tonight if he has any problems with you been out Saying that I have been out really early and really late ............. Sharpshooter.123
It's no different to these bloody gas guns going off all hours really, just go and politely tell him tonight that you are shooting early morning
wildfowler.250
No bother, its literally one house in the middle of a farm. I can just imagine,"excuse me sir, I'll be shooting tomorrow at 5.30" Man..."we'll I'm not very happy about that" "tough"

Hornet 6
The very fact you think it may be a problem is reason enough not to do it I would have thought. Neil.

roadkill
could be a tad on the early side, I always kick off about
wildfowler.250
Cheers for the replies I know he won't say anything to the farmer, it was more out of politeness that I raised the issue. 7 is probably fair enough. I don't know how much of a bang you will hear through a house wall 300 yards away but it would annoy me if it woke me up

motty
I have seen people shooting on peas before 6am less than 200 yards from houses. It's hardly loud enough to cause a disturbance. I have been out as early as 4.30am in the summer and shot about 4-500 yards from houses. No problem.

stokie
We were once in this situation . Most people who live in the country know what goes on . Go talk to the guy and explain that you need to get on them early as its the best time We did exactly that and the bloke asked us to come shoot the rabbits in his garden as they were making a mess of his lawn
bedwards1966
At 300 yards there is a good chance that he won't even hear it in his house, however sound can travel strangely in some areas. I'd just ask him if it would be a problem, or can I at least try it and let me know if it bothers you sort of thing. For all you know he might be an early riser and be awake by then anyway! wildfowler.250
Took the old mans hushpower before and will never do it again. Would rather a .410 with 2" shells! Cheers guys! I'll just speak to him!
