You are going to get a lot of varying answers on this one, would help if you state what you want to use it for ie clays etc. My choice is one of the Bennelli's in 3" or 3 1/2 " chambers.

Depending what you want it for you might want wood, synthetic or camo stock / fore end.

I also have been looking at used semi auto's for pigeon shooting etc, is a beretta 391 urika a good investment & a good gun?, must admit to being big beretta fan :good:

I have one and its not missed a beat since I have had it ,not had a single jam in all that time either.

Not sure of what your disposable income might be but a used Beretta would make an excellent choice. From what I have read here you might want to steer clear of Hatsons. A used 1100 Remington would serve you well for a little less money.

Whatever you buy reserve some time to keep it clean--autos like clean.

Budget not really a consideration, more reliability and holding it's value. would only buy secondhand as i would use my other guns for sporting & trap shooting but like i said before i tend to favour berettas though i have got a browning trap gun i get on ok with :hmm:

What are people's thoughts on the Browning Maxus? I'm considering buy one of these or the A400 - cant make up my mind which one, cheers :good:

A400,quality gun, sold all my other guns as it's the only one i reach for in the cabinet, tried a Maxus, and lots of people rate them VERY highly, but i think A400

Which ever feels best to you :good:

For me,

The Maxus was to light , didn't feel very nice in the hand (to slim and square/boxy feel), jammed a few times, main gas spring broke and I could not adjust the comb height enough.

Much prefer the Beretta (391) :good:

had this choice to make myself a while back.both are very good guns,i opted for the maxus as it felt right for me.i had the main spring break but was rapidly replaced by browning who have fitted better spings in later guns.that aside i wouldnt swop the maxus for anything else out there at the moment.

I'm sure I'll get a good kicking for this but I really can't fault my Hatsan Escort. So much so that I'm selling the Gold E and keeping the Escort. Cost me £250 nearly new in 2008 and it's nerver put a foot wrong. What more can you ask for?

Same here buddy, I always pick the Hatsan up and never had a problem, my others just sit in the cabinet now, Even tho it was new at Newark show I've had a few hundred through it now without a hitch. Thats from 24gran to 32 gram. Couldn't ask for more, especially as it can be all altered with all the spacers, steel proof and multi choke. Even my dads thinking of buying one, as you really don't give a monkeys about it when out and about. Not many moving parts, simple strip down, to me it's ideal.
