BerettaSV10
You are going to get a lot of varying answers on this one, would help if you state what you want to use it for ie clays etc. My choice is one of the Bennelli's in 3" or 3 1/2 " chambers. Depending what you want it for you might want wood, synthetic or camo stock / fore end. Edited April 2, 2012 by BerettaSV10

coyotemaster
Not sure of what your disposable income might be but a used Beretta would make an excellent choice. From what I have read here you might want to steer clear of Hatsons. A used 1100 Remington would serve you well for a little less money. Whatever you buy reserve some time to keep it clean--autos like clean.
cant hit rabbits 123
I have a Beretta AL391 and a Browning Fusion and can fault neither. Both have 3" chambers and are steel proofed. I preffer the Fusion as its lighter, shorter and suits me more but both are great guns. A little costly though compared to others on the market. 682gold
Budget not really a consideration, more reliability and holding it's value. would only buy secondhand as i would use my other guns for sporting & trap shooting but like i said before i tend to favour berettas though i have got a browning trap gun i get on ok with
682gold
Forgot to ask, if i go for beretta 391 is there anything i should look out for in particular either good or bad? atb
RAMMER BURT
i have had lots of auto's over the past 10 years and i always go back to beretta, just like the quality and simplicity of the moving parts but the wood can be a bit plain
chrispti
Winchester SX3 is a very good gun for the money If you can stretch your budget, Xtrema2 or A400 Xtreme are both 3.5'' chambered autos

poorpeet
I'm sure I'll get a good kicking for this but I really can't fault my Hatsan Escort. So much so that I'm selling the Gold E and keeping the Escort. Cost me £250 nearly new in 2008 and it's nerver put a foot wrong. What more can you ask for? Bloggs
What are people's thoughts on the Browning Maxus? I'm considering buy one of these or the A400 - cant make up my mind which one, cheers

cant hit rabbits 123
The maxus really is a fantastic gun, I'd go for it over the A400 any day. Much lighter and less recoil in my experience.

Much prefer the Beretta (391) Edited April 3, 2012 by chrispti

Same here buddy, I always pick the Hatsan up and never had a problem, my others just sit in the cabinet now, Even tho it was new at Newark show I've had a few hundred through it now without a hitch. Thats from 24gran to 32 gram. Couldn't ask for more, especially as it can be all altered with all the spacers, steel proof and multi choke. Even my dads thinking of buying one, as you really don't give a monkeys about it when out and about. Not many moving parts, simple strip down, to me it's ideal.
