Blunderbuss
Quite a bit of pretending you were not went on though Circa 1989 whilst on a 2 year tour, I remember seeking out what was then one of the only, if not the only curry house in NI. The Ashoka on the Lisburn Road in Belfast. For some reason the place was awash with Chinese take aways, but the English national dish of curry hadn't crossed the Irish sea, I know that's all changed and there are loads there now. Anyhow, I was sent on a mission by Mrs Blunderbuss, to procure some rare biryani, bahjis and poppadoms. I mooched in there, covert as you like (or so I thought). Before I'd even opened my English gob, the Indian fella behind the counter said in a broad Belfast accent and with a big grin "20% discount for soldiers". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry
