Mr Potter
Any PWers know of and could recommend a clay shoot a reasonable distance from Bowness on L. Windemere? Bloke I know is spending a long weekend there in June with friends & partners. He wants to take his gun and shoot somewhere new and I think his mates want to have a go. Any help gratefully received. miniross
Basically no. I was up there last week for week and there is nothing close by. There is a ground near Penrith but its only for groups so it's expensive think is called rookin house
Ocean
Crabtree isn't too far I don't think. Just back over the M6. Probably 25 mins from Windemere. Pete

Scully
Crabtree is a good one according to my nephew.Bowscar as another poster said,is mostly DTL,but they also do OT.Sporting layout was very small last time I was there. There is a club near Lindale,on the Barrow road,if it's still going;Burneside Gun club on the moor between Kendal and Tebay meets every other Sunday, and Wednesday evenings this time of year. And Over Kellet just outside Carnforth. There are probably more small ones;best to ask locals once you get there;anywhere that is shooting country usually has a few blokes who meet for an informal shoot.Have fun. BlaserF3
Scully, Lindale is shut, Whitets at Over Kellet is Saturday's only that's if it's still on. I've never been there. Crabtree is fibre only, but according to Ed, the fields were full of plastic wads Burneside is fibre only too.

Peathag
You could try Duddon Valley Gun Club, Kirkby-in-Furness, Contact Horace Parrington 01229 468330 - approx 20 miles from Windermere, usually 40-50 bird Sporting on alternate Sundays. Crabtree Farm, Lupton is slightly nearer (17 miles) and has more to offer as it is a bigger ground. Penrith & District Gun Club, Bowscar, Nr Penrith (40 miles) is twice the distance but a good little ground - contact Mr J Hunter 01697 342062 for fixtures. I have shot at all these places but the contact details I have found on the internet so maybe out of date. Personally, I would give Crabtree a ring as it is closest. Mr Potter
Thanks to all for the replies Looks like Lupton could be the one, I hadn't looked at a map didn't realise how near it was to Bowness. They are there for a long weekend so I assume the Saturday will be OK for them. One last question, I know Lupton is fibre wads only, can I assume that you can buy cartridges at the ground? Mr Potter
http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/li/weather.in.Lupton/ You might be lucky with the weather too. Thanks Mike but my enquiry was for a mate and it's not till sometime in June. My last visit to Lupton is etched on my memory, howling gale with a double dose of rain. I was drenched to the bone, took weeks to dry my shooting bag out. Mr Potter
