n11tht
I've had my sgc for a month now and finally purchased my first gun. I had originally planned to spend about 4-500 on a nice second hand over and under but Ive had to fix my car this month so the gun fund was reduced to £100 So I decided to buy a cheaper than intended gun just because I had an sgc burning a hole in my pocket waiting. I picked up a spanish side by side 12g for £70, its a nice cheap gun that I don't mind if it takes a beating whilst I'm learning in the field and it shoots surprisingly well for a cheap gun. My plan now is to save money again and by august time I should have saved enough for a Lanber sporting deluxe or similar

Blackpowder
Nothing wrong with that, the ballistics will hardly differ from a £5,000 gun with similair chambering and choking. Blackpowder

Scully
As has already been said,of course it's special;it's your first gun.Shoot it often, and in time you;ll learn to shoot it well. A lad I know used to frustrate the hell out of his more affluent golfing buddies when our factory had it's own golfing syndicate. Most of them were Fitters,Engineers and Electricians, with top of the range clubs, while he had no qualifications and worked on the factory floor. He used to take great delight in beating them all on a regular basis with a cheap set of clubs he bought second-hand from 'cash converters'! Never could understand golf....if you didn't hit it so hard you wouldn't have so far to walk.
TaxiDriver
WHEN Youre just starting out, You can miss just as many with a cheap gun as you can with an expensive gun

Browning 425 clay hunter
Even if it only cost £70 it will be the best £70 you ever spent. Your first shotgun is always one of the best in the same way your first car is always the best. It's not the price of the gun that matters but the happiness and enjoyment you get from it. Best of luck With it ATB
vampire
My first shotguns, well the first seven i bought the whole batch and none were any good, all cricket bats that didnt fit,but they only cost £200 for the lot inc a cabinet, several guns late i finally have a smaller collection that fit and have never been used for cricket So,i think you have done the right thing in trying a cheapy, dont be in a hurry to get your next till you know whats what and have tried a few different sorts/styles/makes and make sure it fits

0145wirbelwind
Its not gun gun that breaks the clay . Its the shot. Its down to you to put it were it matters. You have fun with your little cheap spanish gun and smile ever time you beat some one who looks down their nose at you. Its the best feeling ever.......You have fun and happy shooting
Caisterboy
Like all the old sentimentalists on here, i still have my 1st gun, stashed in my Dad's gun Cabinet, a 10 quid Baikal single Barrel. It was horrible, kicked like a mule but I could never part with it because it was my first Be warned though, its in my Dads cabinet 'cos there is no room left in mine with my more recent "acquisitions" !! Enjoy it and the memories of it will last a lifetime
