Calum
Hi I recently got a Hatsan escort off a member on this forum. It is my first gun but I've noticed that the magazine cut off switch doesn't function properly, Instead of licking in and staying in it clicks in then just pops back out like it cant stay seated on where it is meant to catch. Sometimes it works but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't. Not very reliable for a safety feature. The gun was described as excellent condition but I've also found rust on it etc which has annoyed me. The guy said the button would work with cartridges in (I tried the button before I bought it and it didn't stay in but he told me it only will with cartridges so I thought nothing of it) I've contacted Edgar brothers but no replies yet. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

TJ91
U tried the button 'before' you bought it.... So you can't be annoyed about the rust, you should of looked properly at it before buying it also. Some peoples excellent is somebody else's poor Edited May 15, 2012 by TJ91
poorpeet
I've never needed to use the cut of anyway. It won't effect te rest of the gun so unless you need to suddenly need to drop in 36grms of BB while out on the clays I'd not sweat it. longgun
Hi mate mine went like that and the cause was a broken spring agree with you. Fabarm, Franchi etc need cartridge in magazine to catch(engage) but Hatsan doesn't need. Moreover you may check and even ask to seller in a gun shop. Calum
Haha the rest of the gun works absolutely fine hasn't jammed once or anything, Should I take it to a RFD? Will they know what to do? Still no replies from hatsan...
Calum
Im not annoyed about the rust although he did say there was none but I can get rid of that... Just the button annoys me as I go to use it when climbing fences just to be on the safe side and then realise it doesn't work which is frustrating. He told me the button would work when there are cartridges in the gun which I thought nothing of but obviously he was not telling the truth. Cranfield
It is almost certainly a broken spring and is not difficult to fix. A visit to your local Gunshop should sort it out. Rust can be removed and a gun tidied up, that is also not too difficult to do.

Calum would it be safer if you unloaded your Hatsan when climbing over a fence ,
unclemicky
Also the button/switch you are describing is it the one at the side what turns the semi auto into a single shot , or are you on about the safety button next to the trigger guard ,
Gizza22196
i asked you the other day to point out when you would need it... you couldnt answer, cause you either have it loaded, or unloaded dont worry about it and dont take it into stratford cause they dont do repairs now, and the rust is a tiny tiny bit under the rib and i managed to get that little bit off from the chamber anyway
HDAV
Edgar brother deal with hatsan and should be able to point you at the local dealer with the ability to sort

I've contacted Edgar brothers but with no reply since monday. I will ring them today and explain the problem. I will update the thread and let you know what's happening

Calum
I have just got off the phone with edgar brothers who said to take it back to the shop I bought it from and they will arrange pick up and to have it fixed. Unfortunately it is bought second hand but I still have the warranty slip (it is not with me it is at a friends with the box as I do not have a SGC yet beause I am awaiting my interview) But I can't take it bak to where it was bought from new. Should this be a problem? or can I take it anywhere and have it sent off.
longgun
I don't know the answer what you asked but if it the problem is broken spring then even you may fix it yourself. For example I had fixed mine. You only need a 1,8 mm precision screwdriver and a thin spring.
Calum
If i was to get the spring (would edgar brothers send me one)? What would be the steps for doing it? I don't want to take something apart I an't fix or put back together, Thanks.
