How do they get around the smell though, I mean, when you gotta go you gotta go !!

rodp
It still leaves the question unanswered though, how do you not go for 3 or 4 days? It would be virtually impossible to do the neccessary lying down in grass 18" tall without being spotted by guards only a few hundred yards away

rodp
They've got to be a certain breed of bloke to put up with what they do. I'm sure it said he had no food or drink for four days whilst stalking his target :o I'd have had a blinding headache by that time with no food

mr who?
My old PLT SGT tends to crop up on a few of these programs , Mark Spicer . He has also written a couple of decent books on the subject that are well worth a read . Marks a guy who can really shoot as well , I once watched he put five rounds into a Hun head target from a sitting position at 400m! If fact , Id go as far to say that he is the second best shot I ever trained with , The best being Maclom cooper . All the best fellas . Andy . Snipers, Its on channel 531 on Sky (military channel), they are currently running a few of them, another one is 18:00 next thursday As another adage, last nights mentioned the 2 snipers in the film "enemy at the gate", where the Germans send their top sniper(Robert Duvall?) to kill the Russian sniper (Jude Law) They said "did it really happen?, the Rusians said it did" Also a bit about the Russian section of 2000 women snipers of whom only 500 survived the war Edited June 8, 2012 by shaun4860

libs
All those interested in this kinda stuff should have a read of Sniper One by Sgt Dan Mills PWRR. Top account of grizzly contact and loads of gun talk for you lot to drool over. I finished it in 3 nights, couldn't put it down. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sniper-One-Blistering-British-Battle/dp/0718149947
White Rabbit
I'm a sucker for sniper programmes and books and find the stories told fascinating. Re. Sundays programme, all seem to be highly trained and competant individuals but I did have my doubts over the SWAT sniper at an armed stand off.(can't remember his name or the place) Gunman is outside a building holding a gun to a hostages head and is expected to shoot. The sniper is instructed to take him out with a head shot. BANG - No reaction, the sniper assumes he's hit the glass doors behind the gunman. BANG - Another miss, assumes he's done the same again. The desperate gunman is getting more anxious but doesn't pull the trigger on the hostage. At this point a fellow SWAT member points out to the highly trained marksman that he is,in fact, drilling holes in a low wall just infront of his muzzle! Said marksman then raises his rifle and drops the gunman! He said in his interview he was glad he saved the hostages life!! Glad my life wasn't in the hands of that clampett! I'd have said he was very lucky! You'd have expected a mistake like that to end up with alot more dead. Don't know what Carlos Hathcock would have made of that!!
