There was a bit about furniture being made of a new product 'plywood' and howit was a new way to make things including....the Mosquito fighter bomber

I'd travel the world. 5 star hotels and first class/private jet travel everywhere. Would have a very decent pad in London and a place in the country to call home. I'd have my own shoot and I'd also buy days on the best shots in the world for selected friends.

yup Id be doing similar

Mike I had a Huntsman, it was ex 101, rebuilt it as it was in a mess, engines went back to Sabre in Poole a pile of rust and came back all blue and shiny, hull was 9 layers of cold moulded mahogany, she did 46 knots and in those days diesel was 19p a litre in the marina.

It was the fastest fishing boat on the south coast and was just a mental amount of fun, Twin turbo 210 hp diesels, used to start it up in Berthams Marina and the sound was orgasmic, used to put out clouds of smoke as everybody was sitting on their boats having coffee !!! had more fun with that thing than anything I have owned, bought it for £24,000 and sold it six years later for £30,000, dont ask me how much I spent on it but it was like pouring money down the drain, blew gear boxes and two engines, went aground at 30 knots and stuffed the props through the hull etc etc... loved every minute, except the bills.

ps boat was called Maidfast.. no idea where she is now.

My dream is to have a small stone farmhouse/cottage (say 4 good sized bedrooms and a large living room and kitchen) in a couple of hundred acres of woodland. I'd like the house in the middle of the wood with a good couple of acres of lawn surrounding it and close to the house a lake of about half an acre with well planted margins and a mixed stock of fish and ducks in it. I suppose some room for a good veg patch and some chickens would be nice (and possible in an area that size).

It's a target that may well just be possible by the time I retire, especially if I cut the size down a bit. I don't need a plane or a helicopter or expensive cars. A simple life would suit me just fine with a sensibly decent car, some kit to look after my land and garden and enough money in the bank that I didn't have to worry about paying the bills. :good:

Edit... In fact I've just found the website for a little place I used to work at in the gardens. It doesn't quite have the land but it was a stunning place to sit and have lunch. Have a look Here

I've bought and sold too many guns and rifles over the years (and lost money on most of them ) but would probably get tempted again...a pair of David McKay-Brown 20 bore o/u's to start with, and maybe a new rifle? A Scottish sporting estate, with stalking, grouse shooting and a salmon river would be top of the list, and a trip out to Africa to shoot some plains game. Apart from that, I think I'm pretty well sorted!

If money was just for fun i would buy a large estate, shooting and stalking for me and my pals and a good bit set aside for stables and training facilities for my missus to breed and train a horse worthy of running in the Gold Cup!!
