I have one or two single click switches left so if anyone is willing to cover the postage costs and materials I can make one up, but I can only really make one and it'll have to wait till after Xmas. I need to keep at least one switch back as the next nv unit I make will have a remote on off switch located by the trigger. Once I work out the relay that is.

You'll need to post the tailcap and pressure switch assembly, then I'll convert it and post it back with the original pressure switch.

I'm really glad I found these because they are sooooo much better than the regular ones you have to keep pressed. :good:

These 501b specific dual Mode pressure switches have a choice of two modes.

The usual 'keep pressed on' switch is contained in the lower profile portion whilst the taller easy to feel for portion has a 'press on-press off' switch that doesn't require constant pressure. Interestingly - the user can apply light pressure to that taller switch to momentarily turn it off - perhaps while manoeuvring the rifle.
Whilst there is an audible click, it is marginally quieter than the tail cap click.

I took 20 to see how they go, I have tried all of them - with a good wiggle of the wiring too.

For information or advice,

I have a 501b, red LED with aspherical lens off DX. Very cheap. one of their pressure switches as well, or rather 2 now as first one did not work. That was replaced foc but took weeks to appear, meanwhile I found the first one had a poor connection in the pad which I repaired, but it is just a bent metal strip you press against a partially insulated stiffer strip, like home-made, and even mended is not very good. The second one(same part number) has clicky buttons in it and seemed much better, very useable. However, the lamp was acting up last time out, dropping the power/fading, no 'wiggle test' result assumed a new fault. Back in the workshop (kitchen) I had a closer look, took apart and back together, no better, but test with normal tail switch ok, so another bad pressure switch.

Unfortunately, while doing this testing, the little dome lens on the led just fell off, tried it back by pressing it in to the adhesive, but got a blurry image due the adhesive surfaces, so tried to clean it up not much better, so tried without the lens and got a smaller image, thinking this would improve range if left off I carefully cleared away the remainig adhesive from around the diode and tried it again, nothing, completely dead, getting voltage, but I think I killed the diode. Thinking I will try a drop in module, but which one and is it better without the little dome lens, anyone else done that intentionally?

Certainly far superior to a white light for night time bunnies, using Ruger 10/22, subsonics and saks mod.

atb Evo,

Cheers, thinking that way.

Its not the led thats fallen off, just the little dome lens, very soft clear silicone holding it on, but messing with the light/image, led emmiter is fast and tight, presume just very senstive to toothpic clearing the silicone away!

De-doming does present a smaller point source to the aspheric lens and tightens up the focused square, but just knocking it off will have taken some of the diode covering and bits with it. As far as more light way out there?... I'm not convinced it makes much difference with the ones I tried. If anyone wants to try it, some can be de-domed by just leaving the LED in petrol for a day- ish.

Finaly got to test mine in pitch darkness and WOW, Flamin nora! What a difference! The beam is nice and tight and throws a good ole distance. This will be fantastic with my air rifle out to good ranges and will make a big difference! Maybe I can take the battery out of the NV scope and just leave it gathering dust now!

Thanks for all the info :good:

I have one of the ebay 501b that were linked to early in the thread, with a red led. I find that it's not really that bright reaching out to 50 yards, are the drop in red pills brighter than the standard ones?

Did you do the modifications?

I dropped in an aftermarket red pill. Far brighter than the stock one but I could do with finding a body extention for the 501b to allow me to tripple the battery. Mine is bright with one, but I can drive it with four as my drip in is a higher voltage unit!

With one I get air rifle range no problem. I want to find extentions to play with more power!

You'd best check the LED driver is designed to regulate higher voltages first - chances are it it will blow.

Might do better to get a longer torch that is made for those voltages - or an optical doubler like this:
