After finishing the taper i needed to put the chamfer on the end so i put the fixed steady back up. I ended up using both the steady and a smaller washer with the tailstock centre to stop it vibrating. (the block on the end is the aluminium stepped plug)

defo worth putting into hard print

Not sure about that... If i were to write it, it would be illiterate drivel!

A couple of mates suggested i should contact a shooting magazine or something and see if they wanted to run it as an article / feature. I haven't yet... and probably wont.

I've had to make some more tooling tonight.

This is a spindle support to hold the barrel at the end of opposite end of the spindle tube to the chuck to stop it flailing around or vibrating.

This is with the clamping screws in

This is how it mounts onto the lathe and supports the barrel. The second set of screws are adjustable so once i turn the barrel OD i can adjust it to suit

I made a smaller boring bar and ground up the thread cutting tip too
