Looking forward to my first year wildfowling!

Only thing is it only occured to me last week after arranging to go out Sep 1st, it's the wife's birthday that day!!!!

Don't worry about little things like that, i am sure she will understand!

I am all ready, need to decide where to go. I have 2 marshes in mind but will need a few more early morning visits this week to decide.

In the early morning just as you awaken tell the soon to be WFW (wild fowling widow) that you are going to go and get somthing special for her birthday dinner give her a kiss and cuddle (or something else if you have the time as the tide waits for no man) and then hope and pray that you actually manage to bring something down otherwise it will be a stop at your local supermarket on the way home for a ready meal and a big bunch of flowers.

Good luck

Where you shooting Cos? Inland I assume - over your way? I'll be up and out at the sparrows ****... and will be back home for a local charity clay shoot for 10. I think last season we were done by 7.30/8. I'd get up early, drive there, shoot, then come back and still make it to work on time (apart from when the car broke down on the M1)

Plenty of time for SWMBO

All set to go, I spent the day touching up my Texas rag decoys, cleaning my calls/whistles and packing my bag for next week. I just need to rig up some of my ducks :good:

I think it's great that this section of the forum has become more and more busy over the past week, not long now :)

Wildfowler 12 you say you were touching up your texas rags I have obtained a few brand new but with no instructions. I think its 2 knots head & foot with the stick up into the head is this correct do I need to tie them onto the stick in any way.

Cheers,

It's hard to explain mate, fold them into a triangle but leave enough hangover at the bottom edge to fold back on itself and staple.

Then tie a knot at the 'head' and another knot at the corner below, NOT at the foot.

Then you slide the stick through each knot and tidy it up abit. I'm sure you can find some instructions online.

Well the first morning on the wash was a disaster, I had arranged to meet other people there bright and early, the dog was all keen as she had noticed me load some of on gear in the car. Flask was all ready to be topped up and cartridges sorted in my coat pockets...heavier loads in the right. Light in the left. But when I woke up I was 2 hours late.....in a blind panic, I was in a cold sweat thinking how do I contact the ones I'm guiding for their first flight....the alarm clock had remained silent ??? Or had I turned it off on auto pilot like I do work days....the alarm had not been set as its not even the 1st yet.....bloody hell its only Monday...guess I'm dreaming of the marsh already. Literally !
