finally this evening got my first fox with the .223

first outing foxing with it, chuffed

160yrds, was facing me, shot hit just left hand side of the base of its neck and did its work inside the animal.

40grain nosler, 24grains N133

also took a pigeon later, shot hit spot on. Might be out after some crows tomorrow.

cheers lads

Not the first ever i might add :good:

first for this rifle. And about time too.

still got some development to do with the loads before its really shooting how i want, but it will easily hold 3/4" now, which is better than before.

I am very pleased with the stock, Its an Elkridge stock, Fancy grade, worth every penny (only cost about £130 plus about £25 import)

1 down, plenty more to come i hope Nick. Im sure their will be, as that rifle looks well tuned for the job and you worked and waited hard to get it, well done indeed mate.

That stock looks better all the time.

Best of luck, keep it consistent.

Whats the FPS on this load then Nick ?...............Well done BTW :good:

No idea mate, i would guess about 3300fps, maybe more. Its zero'd one inch high at 100, so figure its pretty good for 200 not matter what velocity it is (there is precious little difference in trajectory untill you get to about 250 yrds)

Going to test it on some crows later

only 1 crow 190 yards

took a shot at a rabbit 230 yards.... but was shooting up hill (with safe backstop) so forgot to allow for extra drop  . Plus i dont really know the hold over for that range anyway :good:

But all in all i was happy, the 190 yard shot was taken from a sand bag on the door of my car, so not the easiest shot ever either.

Have a crummy camera phone pic somewhere....
